    The ECS Tuning Front Mount Intercooler (FMIC) Kit boosts power and lowers intercooler outlet temps by maximizing core volume and more efficiently dispelling heat over the OEM sandwich-mounted intercooler. The factory intercooler is positioned between two hot heat exchangers, the A/C Condenser and Radiator, and suffers from an undersized and underperforming tube and fin core from the factory. Upgrading the OE-location intercooler is difficult for most hobbyists and is hidden within the core support. An alternative choice is our In-House Designed and Engineered FMIC Kit which relocates the charge cooler front and center, right behind your front bumper cover for maximum available airflow while moving it away from the hot heat exchangers inside the engine bay, all while adding an aggressive appearance to your turbocharged VW!  Our design features high quality cast aluminum end tanks with an integral flow divider on the inlet for even flow distribution, a massive 26” x 7 ⅞” x 3.0” (614.25 in.³ volume) aluminum bar and plate core, which lends to an increase in volume of +19.78% over the OEM GTI intercooler, for maximum heat dissipation, bolt-on powder-coated steel brackets, which require absolutely NO drilling or cutting, and 5-ply pre-molded silicone couplers with T-Bolt hose clamps. Our intercooler was in-house engineered to provide a bolt-on cooling solution for the VW MK7 GTI and Golf R market. The unique end tank profile promotes internal laminar flow by decreasing turbulence and increasing airspeed into the bar and plate core. This enhances charge air cooling giving you access to more power throughout the rev range. The limitations of the stock intercooler were apparent throughout testing. The stock part consistently struggled to manage charge air temperatures, especially. On vehicles with performance software. The Revo Intercooler has been designed to improve on every restrictive element of the stock cooler, enhancing cooling efficiency by lowering intake air temperatures by up to 34ºC vs. the Fiesta ST intercooler, allowing you to drive harder, for longer. Designed from the ground up, the Revo Intercooler has a 58% larger core volume than the OEM part and offers perfect fitment. By removing the “air separation dam” it allows access to a volume of unused engine bay space to be filled with the intercooler core. INTERCOOLER HEIGHT The decision to manufacturer the cooler at ¾ height and not fill all the available space was key in balancing the performance benefits against functionality. Offering the most efficiency per-cubic-cm cooling capacity and minimising pressure drop, whilst managing unnecessary weight. Also allowing sufficient airflow to the vehicle’s radiator and air ducting.   END TANK DESIGN The Revo end tank geometry maintains the largest possible cross-sectional flow area to and from the core. With a cast interior surface finish, the Revo end tanks allow air to flow freely without obstructions. The design has been balanced between core width and optimal tank profile design. End tanks play an important part in maintaining pressure and work in harmony with the core to promote airflow, the Revo end tanks are designed to offer the optimal balance between both of these key features.   BAR & PLATE Designed with a bar and plate core to maximise the efficiency of heat transfer, the pressure drop is also controlled as the air meets less resistance compared to that of a tube and fin alternative. The Revo Intercooler also features carefully specified fin geometry to maximise cooling properties while minimising flow restriction. The ambient core side utilises louvred fins to slow ambient airflow which improves heat transfer, while the charge core side features an offset internal fin design to balance surface area and air resistance to minimise pressure drop.   INTERCOOLER PIPE UPGRADE Supplied with an upgraded silicone charge and throttle pipes. The increased diameter pipework ensures the maximum performance by increasing system volume by over 17%. The internal diameter of each silicone is precisely matched to the outer diameter of the ribbed inlet and outlet connections along with a unique Flush Fit design, allowing a smooth transition between components. This has done away with the stock “quick-connect” hose couplings and removes the restrictions present in the charge systems. RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT All Revo products are designed in-house using the latest 3D printing technology, CAD and CFD software. Every product is rigorously tested utilising an in-house Hub dyno and Revo data acquisition software. The Revo intercooler minimises turbulence while maximising heat transfer, promoting cooler air temperatures and low-pressure drop. This helps retains power and torque throughout the rev range as highlighted during controlled Dyno testing. The Revo Intercooler was tested in-house to compare the performance against that of the stock Intercooler. First tested on a vehicle running the OEM Intercooler with Revo Stage 1 software, a Revo open cone air intake system and Milltek GPF back exhaust, the Revo Intercooler and pipes were then installed and tested in the same controlled environment to highlight the benefits of enhanced cooling.   PERFORMANCE DATA Showing the last of six consecutive dyno runs, the efficiency of the Revo Intercooler over the OEM Fiesta Mk8 intercooler is highlighted. With peak gains of +10 HP & +28NM Torque, along with increased performance throughout the entire rev range. The stock intercooler struggles to effectively function in comparison to the Revo Intercooler which remained consistent throughout. INLET TEMPERATURE This is a metric used to confirm that testing on the Revo Fiesta ST 1.5 EcoBoost Intercooler. This is used to show that the air temperatures going into the intercooler were similar for each test, confirming that outlet temperatures shown in the following graphs are purely down to differences in intercooler design/construction. As can be seen, the inlet temperatures during testing were hotter on the Revo Intercooler, yet the Revo intercooler produced the lower outlet temps proving the cooling efficiency. OUTLET TEMPERATURE This is the main performance metric to illustrate that the Revo intercooler far exceeds the stock unit. A strong indication that the Revo intercooler is extremely resistant to heat soak and could likely continue for tens more sequential dyno runs before any intake temperature-related issues arose. The graph illustrates the increased cooling performance of the Revo intercooler vs OEM ST intercooler over all six runs. The Revo Intercooler provided a massive 34.4°C max and 12.8°C average intake air temperature reduction across the six back to back full gear dyno runs. INTERCOOLER PRESSURE DROP GRAPH Pressure drop is an important factor when it comes to choosing an Intercooler. The Revo solution features custom cast end tanks to evenly distribute air over the core. This graph highlights that even with massive core size difference there is only a 0.11psi pressure drop in comparison to the stock intercooler, ensuring engine response and minimised turbo lag. REVO INTERCOOLER FORD FOCUS ST MK4 2.3 ECOBOOST  The Revo Intercooler utilises unique design features to lower intake air temperatures, minimise pressure drop and allow the engine to produce impressive power and torque with Revo Software. The limitations of the stock intercooler were apparent throughout testing with space being one of the largest factors when looking to improve over the stock unit. The stock part consistently struggled to manage charge air temperatures, especially on vehicles with performance software. The Revo Intercooler has been designed to improve on every restrictive element of the stock cooler, enhancing cooling efficiency by lowering intake air temperatures by up to 33.3ºC vs the Stock intercooler, allowing you to drive harder, for longer. One of the largest restrictions we found in the OE unit was the size of the inlet and outlet of the cooler, as you increase the power of the car the charge air temperatures increase, with the increase in charge air temperatures the OE unit starts to become a choking point and increases those temperatures further due to insufficient flow. The Revo Intercooler Kit removes the most restrictive elements, increasing the inlet and outlet sizes combined with a larger core, reducing intake air temperatures and promoting smoother airflow.  INCREASED CORE VOLUME The Revo Intercooler was built around a simple principle; create a cooler that can keep up with your power demand. Designed from the ground up, the Revo Intercooler has a 28% larger core volume than the OEM part and offers perfect OE fitment with no modification to the bumpers or grill.  INCREASED FRONTAL AREA Due to the custom-designed end tanks, the frontal area of the intercooler has been increased by over 13%. Offering the best balance between increased performance and acceptable part clearance, whilst also minimising pressure drop. END TANK DESIGN The Revo end tank geometry maintains the largest possible cross-sectional flow area to and from the core. With a cast interior surface finish, the Revo end tanks allow air to flow freely without obstructions. The design has been balanced between core width and optimal tank profile design. The inlet and outlet sizes have been increased by 20% over the OE design allowing significantly more airflow and volume, reducing charge air temperatures. End tanks play an important part in maintaining pressure and work in harmony with the core to promote airflow, the Revo end tanks are designed to offer the optimal balance between both of these key features.   BAR & PLATE Designed with a bar and plate core to maximise the efficiency of heat transfer, the pressure drop is also controlled as the air meets less resistance compared to that of a tube and fin alternative. The Revo Intercooler also features carefully specified fin geometry to maximise cooling properties while minimising flow restriction. The ambient core side utilises louvred fins to slow ambient airflow which improves heat transfer, while the charge core side features an offset internal fin design to balance surface area and air resistance to minimise pressure drop.   INTERCOOLER PIPE UPGRADE Supplied with upgraded and increased sized 4 ply silicone hoses. The increased diameter silicone hoses allow for increased air volume to the cooler, reducing the heat build up the OE ones suffer at the inlet of the intercooler. The internal diameter of each silicone is precisely matched to the diameter of the Revo intercooler with unique Flush Fit design, allowing a smooth transition between components. RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT All Revo products are designed in-house using the latest 3D printing technology, CAD and CFD software. Every product is rigorously tested utilising an in-house Hub dyno and Revo data acquisition software. The Revo Intercooler minimises turbulence while maximising heat transfer, promoting cooler air temperatures and low-pressure drop. This helps retains power and torque throughout the rev range as highlighted during controlled Dyno testing. The Revo Intercooler was tested in-house to compare the performance against that of the stock Intercooler. First tested on a vehicle running the OEM intercooler with Revo Software and a Revo Open Cone Intake System, the Revo Intercooler and pipes were then installed and tested in the same controlled environment to highlight the benefits of enhanced cooling. PERFORMANCE DATA Showing the last of six consecutive dyno runs, the efficiency of the Revo Intercooler over the OEM Focus ST intercooler is highlighted. With peak gains of +38 HP (hubs) & +45NM Torque, along with increased performance throughout the entire rev range averaging a gain of +8HP (hubs) and +10NM Torque.  The stock intercooler struggles to effectively cool the charge air due to the tube and fin design and restriction in the intercooler inlet and outlet sizes. The Revo cooler is able to cope with the demand far better retaining power even in the harshest of conditions where the OE unit starts to fail.   INLET TEMPERATURE This is a metric used to confirm the testing on the Focus MK4 ST intercooler. This is used to show that the air temperatures going into the intercooler were similar for each test, confirming that outlet temperatures shown in the following graphs are purely down to differences in intercooler design/construction. However in the case of the Focus MK4 ST OE cooler, due to inefficiency in the OE design of the charge pipes and cooler you can see that the starting temperature is higher from Run1 through to Run6. The main cause of this is again the inlet size of the intercooler and associated pipe work, these parts cause a choking point in the stock system increasing starting temps before they have even been cooled. With the increased size and flow characteristics of the Revo Intercooler and pipes the temperatures are significantly reduced prior to being cooled, a max reduction of 88.3°C and 21.7°C average over six runs. This indicates that the Revo kit can absorb much larger amounts of heat more efficiently than the OE setup, yet the Revo Intercooler produced the lower outlet temps proving the cooling efficiency. OUTLET TEMPERATURE This is the main performance metric to illustrate that the Revo intercooler far exceeds the stock unit. A strong indication that the Revo Intercooler is extremely resistant to heat soak and could likely continue for ten more sequential dyno runs before any significant intake temperature-related issues arose. The graph illustrates the increased cooling performance of the Revo Intercooler vs Focus ST intercooler over all six runs. The Revo Intercooler provided a massive 33.2°C max and 11.1°C average intake air temperature reduction across the six back to back full gear dyno runs, and yet even by the sixth run was still cooler than the starting run on the OE intercooler.  INTERCOOLER PRESSURE DROP GRAPH Pressure drop is an important factor when it comes to choosing an intercooler. The Revo solution features custom cast end tanks to evenly distribute air over the core. Increase 18°F (65°F Less than Stock)   Desislav's N54 FBO (Full Bolt On) struggled with the high IAT on his N54 after his tuner increased the boost on his custom map 6 setup to 17-19psi. The car was reaching 192°F after a 2nd to 4th gear pull, which kills timing advance thus reduce power output, this is a 83°F increase in temperature after a single pull. Once he upgraded to the Masata N54 HD Performance Intercooler, this greatly reduced the IAT after the same 2-4th gear pull, from the above test data, the Masata Intercooler was 65°F cooler than stock after the same 2nd - 4th gear pull. Special thanks to our customer Desislav and his tuner, who shared these amazing test results with us, to once again show that the Masata Intercooler is doing its job. CHARGE PIPE DESIGN The Revo charge pipe is a smooth mandrel-bent aluminium pipe, coupled with a custom tapered silicone hose to gradually transition to a larger diameter from the turbo outlet to the hard pipe. The charge pipe is designed to directly replace the OEM part utilising optimised pipe routing and a unique constant-diameter design. This eliminates restrictions, including dents found on the stock charge pipe while allowing enough clearance from engine parts, increasing performance without compromising fitment.   THROTTLE PIPE DESIGN The Revo throttle pipe increases airflow by replacing the stock part with an increased diameter, mandrel-bent aluminium hard pipe and reinforced oil resistant silicone hose. The hose connection is ID-matched to promote laminar, uniform flow across the transition of parts, as well as being slightly longer for ease of installation.   ROBUST DESIGN Only Revo scrutinises every detail of the existing system to ensure a quality replacement product for your vehicle. This is used to show that the air temperatures going into the intercooler were similar for each test, confirming that outlet temperatures shown in the following graphs are purely down to differences in intercooler design/construction. As can be seen, the inlet temperatures during testing were hotter on the Revo Intercooler, yet the Revo intercooler produced the lower outlet temps proving the cooling efficiency. The stock intercooler struggles to effectively function in comparison to the Revo Intercooler which remained consistent throughout the 3 runs, compared to the stock cooler which lost 5%.   INLET TEMPERATURE Inlet temperature readings are used to monitor the temperature of the air going into the intercooler. This ensures controlled testing when comparing results of outlet temperatures. As highlighted in the graphs, the inlet temperatures during the Revo Intercooler test were higher than in the test of the stock cooler, the Revo intercooler was still able to lower outlet temperatures more than the OEM part. The Revo Intercooler has been designed to improve on every restrictive element of the stock cooler, enhancing cooling efficiency by lowering intake air temperatures by up to 55ºC vs. the 8S TTRS intercooler, allowing you to drive harder, for longer. Designed from the ground up, the Revo Intercooler has an 80% larger core volume than the OEM part and offers perfect fitment. By integrating a reinforced OE crash bar, it allows access to a volume of unused engine bay space to be filled with the intercooler core. END TANKS DESIGN The stock cast end tanks on the 2.5TFSI cooler do provide elevated performance benefits over the typical plastic end tank coolers. However, the Revo end tank geometry maintains the largest possible cross-sectional flow area to and from the core. The width of the cooler makes for an extremely large volume end tanks, yielding impressive airflow. Coupled with a cast interior surface finish, the Revo end tanks allow air to flow freely without obstructions. End tanks play an important part in maintaining pressure and work in harmony with the core to promote airflow, the Revo end tanks are designed to offer the optimal balance between both of these key features.   BAR & PLATE Designed with a bar and plate core to maximise the efficiency of heat transfer, the pressure drop is also controlled as the air meets less resistance compared to that of a tube and fin alternative. The Revo Intercooler also features carefully specified fin geometry to maximise cooling properties while minimising flow restriction. The ambient core side utilises louvred fins to slow ambient airflow which improves heat transfer, while the charge core side features an offset internal fin design to balance surface area and air resistance to minimise pressure drop.   INTEGRATED CRASH BAR To increase the core size and volume the Revo intercooler has integrated an OEM crash bar, requiring extra provisions within the design to ensure correct fitment and crash bar rigidity. The welded connection has been reinforced with plates to transfer any force away from these areas and adding additional safety factors to the assembly. This also allows the dynamic weight of the intercooler to be distributed through the bar, rather than solely relying on the locating brackets at the bottom of the cooler.   INTERCOOLER PIPE UPGRADED Supplied with an upgraded aluminium mandrel-bent throttle pipe and a 6ply silicone charge pipe. The increased diameter pipework ensures the maximum performance by increasing system volume by over 27%. The internal diameter of each silicone is precisely matched to the outer diameter of the ribbed inlet and outlet connections along with a unique Flush Fit design, allowing a smooth transition between components. The throttle hard pipe also includes a water-methanol injection port. RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT All Revo products are designed in-house using the latest 3D printing technology, CAD and CFD software. Every product is rigorously tested utilising an in-house Hub dyno and Revo data acquisition software. The Revo intercooler minimises turbulence while maximising heat transfer, promoting cooler air temperatures and low-pressure drop. This helps retains power and torque throughout the rev range as highlighted during controlled Dyno testing. The Revo Intercooler was tested in-house to compare the performance against that of the stock Intercooler. First tested on a vehicle running the OEM Intercooler with Revo Stage 2 software (BETA), a Revo Carbon series air intake system and Milltek downpipe, the Revo Intercooler and pipes were then installed and tested in the same controlled environment to highlight the benefits of enhanced cooling. PERFORMANCE DATA Showing the last of six consecutive dyno runs, the efficiency of the Revo Intercooler over the OEM TTRS intercooler is highlighted. With peak gains of +40 HP & +41NM Torque, along with increased performance throughout the entire rev range. The stock intercooler struggles to effectively function in comparison to the Revo Intercooler which remained consistent throughout, INLET TEMPERATURE This is a metric used to confirm that testing on the Revo TTRS 2.5TFSI Intercooler. This is used to show that the air temperatures going into the intercooler were similar for each test, confirming that outlet temperatures shown in the following graphs are purely down to differences in intercooler design/construction. As can be seen, the inlet temperatures during testing were hotter on the Revo Intercooler, yet the Revo intercooler produced the lower outlet temps proving the cooling efficiency. OUTLET TEMPERATURE This is the main performance metric to illustrate that the Revo intercooler far exceeds the stock unit, in fact, one of the most effective Revo intercoolers to date. The graph illustrates the increased cooling performance of the Revo intercooler vs OEM TTRS intercooler over all six runs. The Revo Intercooler provided a massive 57.4°C max and 17.5°C average intake air temperature reduction across the six back to back full gear dyno runs.   INTERCOOLER PRESSURE DROP GRAPH Pressure drop is an important factor when it comes to choosing an Intercooler. The Revo solution features custom cast end tanks to evenly distribute air over the core. This graph highlights that even with massive core size difference there is only a 0.23psi pressure drop in comparison to the stock intercooler, ensuring engine response and minimised turbo lag.
