A direct replacement kit that offers increases in performance and response, the enlarged boost pipe kit features a freer-flowing design with a increased internal diameter on both the hot side and cold side. Cold SideOur comprehensive eight-piece kit begins with a taper from the 40mm turbo outlet that increases by a huge 50% to reach 60mm as it meets the intercooler inlet side. This larger increase improves internal flow and allows fitment to our Stage 3 intercooler with 60mm inlet, making it ideal for cars fitted with hybrid turbos. Hot SideFrom the intercooler’s 60mm outlet side, the pipework tapers back down to meet the throttle body’s 49.5mm size, maintaining a 53mm minimum as it reaches the new cast aluminium throttle body elbow. In doing so, it offers up to a 39% increase in internal diameter during the most restrictive part of the OEM pipework (38mm) just before the throttle body elbow. This increased overall internal volume and improved design works to reduce restriction and improve flow from the turbo and to the inlet, providing an increase in power and response. A direct replacement part that offers increases in performance and response, the enlarged turbo inlets feature a freer-flowing design with an increased internal diameter, which is essential when fitting hybrid turbos. How it works  The original elbows from the air boxes are made from plastic and gradually taper down from 80mm to just 54mm and then 41mm as they enter the turbos. Whilst this is adequate for standard turbo cars, when fitting hybrid turbos, which consume more air, the original elbows can cause an unnecessary restriction that hampers flow when pushing for more power. Our AIRTEC Motorsport direct replacement inlets have been designed in-house to feature pipework that very gently tapers to 64mm in diameter as they reach the turbo inlet, therefore removing the stepped restriction and allowing the maximum amount of internal flow, with increases of nearly 35% compared to standard. With improved flow and increased strength over the original plastic items, our charge pipes link the turbos to the charge cooler and are suited to modified BMW M3, M4 and M2 Competition models for track or fast road use. The pipes have been designed to improve the overall internal dimeter and flow of the original OEM pipes, which flatten considerably where they pass over the top of the engine. The original OEM pipes are also made from a lightweight plastic, and with the increased boost pressures associated with a remap or hybrid turbos, the plastic seams can split and form a hairline crack. This is often invisible to the eye, but it’s an issue that will affect the engine’s performance and the turbos’ longevity. The AIRTEC Motorsport replacement pipes are constructed from alloy, so they will not fail with higher boost pressures and maintain a 57mm internal dimeter from the start to finish. Both pipes also feature a 1/8NPT port fitting suitable for a methanol injection set up, and the exterior of the pipes are finished in a subtle black powder coat. The kit features two silicone joiners as well as two CNC-machined connectors to house the original BMW O-rings, with adapters for the replacement fixtures and fittings that come as part of the kit. Fitting takes around 2 hours and the original engine cover can still be fitted in place, but for a perfect fit, we recommend enlarging the apertures slightly, which can be done neatly in order to retain the original look. Developed in-house at AIRTEC HQ in the UK, we’ve created a comprehensive solution to improving the car’s original pipework to allow more flow and capacity whilst reducing restriction and improving response. The comprehensive 8-piece kit features three pipes constructed from lightweight aluminium for improved strength so they will not fail with higher boost pressure as well as five Pro Hoses silicone joiners/hoses to make fitting as simplistic as possible. For the cold side from the intercooler to the throttle body, the original pipework begins at 60mm and tapers to 58mm in diameter, but our replacement features a 70mm internal diameter throughout until it meets the throttle body, increasing both flow and capacity. On the hot side coming from the turbo to the intercooler, the original pipework measures 60mm where as our kit features a 63mm internal diameter from start to finish with no restrictions. It also does away with the original resonator, which VW fits to reduce noise but removing it improves flow, capacity and noise. Designed to increase power and torque figures by replacing the standard restrictive boost pipes and improving air flow. With larger internal diameters on the pipework, less restriction means a smoother air flow and an increase of power. Kit comprises of smooth larger, mandrel bent hard pipes and is supplied with a full set of Pro Hoses silicone hoses including from the turbo outlet to the hot-side boost pipe. The AIRTEC big boost pipe kit is designed as a direct replacement of the OEM parts, eliminating restrictions found on the stock charge pipe while allowing enough clearance from engine parts, increasing performance in the process. We have designed the kit using 63mm hot-side pipework to keep air speed high and reduce the effects of turbo lag on big power cars. For the cold-side pipework this increases to a massive 70mm to ensure maximum air flow and volume is achieved at the throttle body to maximise performance.
