Unfortunately, the failure does not always result in a check engine light as the valve can still be blown open by the boost pressure, so you may not be aware that you are losing power due to this. This allows charge air to be recirculated around the turbo charger from the boost side back to the intake side. This recirculation path is opened and closed by means of an electrical connection from the engine management, to a solenoid that is mounted on the turbocharger housing. As you accelerate, the turbo charger vanes are spinning and boost pressure is increased, literally blowing into the engine cylinders. Then when you change gear, you take you foot off the accelerator momentarily, select the next gear, and accelerate again. As you take your foot off the accelerator the throttle valve to the engine closes. The problem here is that during this process the turbo is still spinning and the boost pressure that it is producing has no where to go. (This is a bit like putting you hand over a hair dryer so the air cannot get out) What happens at this point is the turbo starts to stall, the spinning vanes slow down (incurring alot of stress) and the boost pressure drops. When you open the throttle valve again by pushing down on the accelerator (demanding more power) the turbo has lost its momentum, boost pressure and there is a pause or a "Lag" before the engine is producing the required power once again. To combat this loss of power and stress on the turbo, a recirculation or diverter valve is used. On the Mini, when the throttle valve closes, the engine management opens the recirculation route around the turbo. This gives the charge air an alternative route and allows the turbocharger to keep spinning so that when you accelerate again there is no "lag" or waiting period. This system works well and is adopted by nearly all vehicle manufacturers on turbo charged petrol engine applications. The only downside to this system is that a turbo chargers produce heat. (The hot air that leaves a turbo is cooled by passing it through an intercooler before it enters the engine. The cooler the air the more power is produced). By recirculating the hot air back into the intake side of a turbo the temperatures increase. This is where the Blow Off or Dump valve plays its part. By expelling the charge air to atmosphere rather than recirculating it, you do not increase the intake air temperature but you do allow the turbo to keep spinning. The side effect which is unacceptable to most vehicle manufacturers is the noise of the valve expelling the air. By fitting the FMDVMCS between the existing solenoid and the turbo housing (this involves removing only 3 bolts) the air is re-directed to atmosphere rather than recirculated. It should be noted that the engine management also uses this valve to decrease engine power when necessary. An example of this is by the (DSC) Dynamic Stability Control system.     This Blow Off valve is for the Citroen DS3 1.6 Turbo engines, that have the electronically controlled bypass valves. It is recommended for any vehicle where the boost pressure has been increased by an ECU software upgrade and for unmodified vehicles operating in warmer climates, as a solution to the many failures that have occurred. The problem is that diaphragm retaining ring is made from very thin plastic that goes brittle with heat cycles, and eventually fails. Unfortunately the failure doesn’t always result in a check engine light as the valve can still be blown open by the boost pressure, so you may not be aware that you are losing power due to this.  This prevents the diaphragm from sealing This particular failure can also result in the valve falling apart upon removal from the turbo, and in extreme cases, we have heard of bits of plastic entering the turbo resulting in serious damage. Our alternative is a fully engineered solution offering both significantly improved reliability .Our valve is piston based , with no diaphragm to fail, and of all aluminium construction, it replaces the original unit with a pressure/vacuum operated piston valve that still also retains the desirable OEM ECU control over valve actuation.     Forge are pleased to offer a Blow Off Valve (BOV) Adaptor for the Mercedes A180, A250, CLA 250 & GLA 250. The spacers were developed to produce the great atmospheric BOV sound that is expected from your turbocharged vehicle, although normally lacking on your vehicle. This CNC machined spacer, made from solid billet aluminium, gives you that sound you have been looking for. When letting off the throttle you get that sweet and satisfying “whoosh” letting everyone know your Mercedes is in fact turbocharged. It has been designed to work with the original electrically controlled solenoid and utilises high quality o-rings for a perfect seal. Mercedes equipped your car from the factory with a recirculating style turbocharger valve which allows the charge air to be routed around the turbocharger from the boost side back to the intake side. The downside to this style of system is it recirculates the hot air back into the intake side of the turbo, increasing temperatures. When equipping a vehicle with a Blow Off Adaptor like ours, it helps remedy this issue. This great solution for open air venting includes everything you will need for the install.     Forge Motorsport is proud to release the latest version of our very popular solenoid driven valve for the 2013-on VAG 1.8 TSI engine (US codes CPKA and CPRA) and 2.0 TSI engine (Euro code CNTA, CHHA, CHHB, CJXB and CJXC;US codes CPLA and CPPA)  including Golf MK7 R. This valve is a full replacement atmospheric blow-off valve (i.e. noisy) that integrates seamlessly with the OEM electronics and results in no detriment in performance, and absolutely NO fault codes or check engine lights, which isn’t something that can be said of our competition! Like our full replacement recirculating valve option, this valve is fully engineered to remedy the failure issues experienced with the OEM solenoid valves when their diaphragm may rupture which results in a boost leak. The later revision OEM valves have a longer lift but ultimately the plastic brittles and in extreme circumstances, parts of the plastic can break off. Our valve uses full billet alloy construction with a piston based internal design that provides for significantly improved reliability over the OEM valves along with lightning fast response. Like our full replacement recirculating valve option, the FMFSITVR, the FMFSITAT is fully engineered to remedy the failure issues experienced with the OEM solenoid valves when their diaphragm may rupture which would effectively result in a boost leak. Our valve uses full billet alloy construction with a piston based internal design that provides for significantly improved reliability over the OEM valves along with lightning fast response. This valve is particularly well suited to the B7 and B8 chassis Audi A4 and A5 with the 2.0T engine. The valve mounting location on these vehicles is positioned particularly close to the frame rail of the chassis, and the overall installed height of our standard replacement valve and spacer combination is such that it conflicts with the chassis at this location. The FMFSITAT valve has a much shorter overall installed height, which enables fitment of this atmospheric valve option onto the B7 and B8 chassis whereas this was previously not an option. Another particularly unique feature of this product is the included intake manifold tap used to source a vacuum reference for the operation of the valve. This piece also has two other available provisions from which an intake manifold reference can be taken. These extra manifold references can be used for a boost gauge signal, and even a water/meth injection trigger where applicable. If this to be installed to the 1.4 Turbo engine, it will be necessary to additionally purchase our boost sensor adaptor FMBGFK3 - please see below in Related Products.     This blow off valve, or dump valve is for the BMW 235 3.0 Petrol Turbo engine 2014+ are EWG (Electronic Waste Gate) as found in the F22 chassis model that has a single electronically controlled bypass valve. This product is recommended for both unmodified vehicles and any vehicle where the boost pressure has been increased by an ECU software upgrade, as a replacement to the OEM bypass valve. Unfortunately the standard valve fails when the plastic deteriorates with age normally resulting in a check engine light. Unfortunately the valve may still partially function, so you may not be aware that you are losing power due to this. This particular failure can also result in the valve falling apart upon removal from the turbo, and in extreme cases, bits of plastic entering the turbo, resulting in serious damage. Our alternative is a fully engineered solution offering significantly improved reliability. Our valve is piston based, with no diaphragm to fail, and with a body of all aluminium construction.
