The oil filter housing on modern VAG engines does not allow for the previously common takeoff plates to fit under the filter and divert oil into an oil cooler mounted elsewhere on the vehicle. Instead they now use a oil to water cooling ‘block’ bolted to the front of the engine, and in many cases an undersize filter, or a paper drop in element, which prevents easy fitting of an oil cooler. As many people have found, if the vehicle is tuned, or if it is towing a heavy load, oil temperatures can rocket, with oil temperatures over 120°C (250°F) being easily achieved, which is close to the point that engine oil starts to break down. The Forge Motorsport FMOC2 replaces the oil to water cooling block, and although it still allows coolant to circulate, it more importantly gives two M22 takeoffs which, when fitted with the appropriate adaptor, allow fitment of oil cooler lines between an -6 and an -10 in size which can then be attached to an external oil cooler. Oil temperatures are stabilised, and engines can be worked harder for longer. To confirm fitment, please check the list of compatible vehilces below. This plate replaces the VAG OEM Part No. 03L 117 021 C. It fits ALL of the 2.0TDi and 1.6 TDi engines in the vehicles listed below. This kit comprises of three silicone hoses complete with CNC alloy couplers and the highest quality stainless clamps. Excess crankcase pressure is vented from the crankcase through the PCV system, where it is drawn into the intake manifold and returned by the engine. This recirculated air contains aerated oil from the crankcase which is burned by the engine. Turbo charged engines often draw significant amounts of oil into the engine through the PCV system. This oil catch tank system removes aerated oil so that it can be drained and recycled. The kit is suitable for intallation to the 2 litre FSi engines such as in the VW MK5 Golf , MK5 Golf Edition 30 and SEAT Leon Cupra (not for engine codes CCTA CBFA). The stock PCV on the TFSI engine is quite fragile and over time, or when running lots of boost, the diaphragm inside can rip which can result in excessive blowby entering the inlet manifold at idle (smoking from the tailpipe) or a loss of boost when driving, which can cause other problems. Traditionally we fit a catch can to remove the PCV entirely and catch the oil vapours from the engine as seen here: FMMK5CTC and FMMK5CT. But if you want a cheaper and simpler solution, you can delete the PCV and divert the breathing to the rear cam cover outlet only, by using our Forge Motorsport PCV Delete kit. Simply put, it removes the PCV and links the two internal ports together which emulates what happens inside the stock PCV when the engine is on boost, but without any fragile components to break or split. This completely isolates the inlet manifold from the cam cover. We were lucky to get one of the first MK8R’s to enter the UK and used this opportunity to put months of development and testing into this new induction kit. Our MK8 Golf R has been put through countless hours of track day work and hill climbs, alongside the usual daily and spirited driving. This kit has been designed from the ground up, using 3D Scanning, FEA Simulation data in SolidWorks CAD, 3D printed development, and numerous dyno sessions to truly unlock the power. Simulation testing played a large part in the design process to help maximise the airflow. This included a tear drop cavity around the bonnet release mechanism to ensure that the airflow stays fast and laminar on its way to the filter element. The 3D printed prototypes helped with comparing our simulation testing to real world driving conditions. This is a valuable comparison that is used in the top tiers of motorsport, now being brought to your vehicle. During the final prototypes testing we found that the Forge induction kit with stock turbo inlet produced gains on average of 5.5BHP. However, when paired with our Turbo Inlet Adaptor FMTIA5/9 this is where the stock EA888 engine saw impressive gains, increasing power up to 16BHP at 6500RPM with a significant average power increase from 4500RPM to the 6700RPM Rev limit of 10BHP, while the drivability and the punch from extra torque increases can be felt on the road as between 4000RPM to the rev limit an average gain of 20NM is achieved. It’s worth remembering that this is with a stock ECU and no tune, so we would expect to see mapped cars returning even greater yields of power. This induction kit runs the full width of the slam panel, incorporating an elegant lip which neatly slides under the slam panel to ensure that all the cold air from the front of the vehicle flows through into the inlet tract with no detriment from the engines heat. During testing we found this to make a significant increase to airflow and a reduction to inlet air temperatures (IAT’s). Temperature and volume of air supplied to your vehicles engine that is compressed by the turbo charger has a better effect on performance when cool as this is to provide the engine with more oxygen (denser air), thus improving the combustion in each cylinder. In addition, by regulating and reducing the air temperature, it also increases the reliability of the engine by keeping the AFRs (Air Fuel Ratios) in each cylinder at a safe level; which in turn, can increase an engines power due to the air being cooler. A bigger bang is then created within the cylinder (providing the correct amount of fuel is added) - this equates to an increase in BHP and torque. It’s worth noting that this induction kit offers a massive amount of air to the EA888 engine, which is a must for anyone looking to push the performance of their car when tuning to stage 1, stage 2, and beyond. It also features a larger surface area than the stock filter and many competitors’ alternatives. The intake diameter has been carefully tuned to provide exactly the correct quantity of air for consistent power gains throughout the rev range and minimising the chance of low-end torque loss; the pipework is specifically designed to feed the turbo without interruption. The result of this is a gain of induction acoustics under acceleration, which improves the driving experience and adds a bit more drama to the EA888 engine. With the use of SolidWorks, our CAD engineers have designed the heat shroud to fit round all the contours of the engine bay. By ensuring that the intake heat shield is open on this side it also means that vehicles being tuned to stage 2/3+ have a reduced risk of being restricted with them pulling in a greater quantity of air.
