  • Forge Motorsport - Carbon Induction Kit for BMW B58 (M140i, M240i, M340i, M440i)

forge Motorsport Forge Motorsport - Carbon Induction Kit for BMW B58 (M140i, M240i, M340i, M440i)

FITMENT: 1 SERIES F20/F21/F40 M140i 2 SERIES F22/F23 M240i 3 SERIES G20/G21 M340i 4 SERIES F32/F33/F36 M440i B58 ENGINE! Product Description +11 BHP  +19NM Torque Induction kit and inlet hose included Improved induction noise Full instructions Prepreg 2x2 twill formed carbon fibre Lifetime warranty This product is a direct fit for the OEM part 13718580424 (replaces just the upper airbox and panel filter) & 13718601682 (replaces just the turbo inlet to airbox section). The B58 engine is a masterpiece from BMW, it makes great power, produces a fantastic noise and with the addition of FMINDK50 you can take these qualities even further. When our development team analysed the OEM airbox and inlet tract on the BMW M140i kindly loaned to us from The Performance Company, we came up with a multiple part solution to maximise all areas. The Development Journey Step 1:  UK and some EU spec M140i’s have a blank which stops the low-pressure zone that builds up in front of the radiator from entering the inlet tract. We created FMINLD2, a carbon fibre sculped duct to replace the blank, and route more air into the tract towards the airbox.  Step 2: Now that this greater quantity of air has entered the airbox, we need a greater surface area of filtration to maximise the airflow towards the engine. Therefore, we decided on a high-flow performance cone filter and used our development of other upper airbox induction kits to inform our design process to create FMINDK50. Step 3: The weak link was now the OEM inlet hose with its sound resonator and accordion ribs which cause turbulence and slows down the airflow. We created FMINLH25 (included with this kit) from a multi-ply smooth silicone to significantly reduce turbulent airflow, and to handle big boost builds. We also increased its diameter from 85mm to 90mm.   We used SolidWorks CAD, 3D prints and numerous dyno sessions to truly unlock the power. Simulation testing played a large part in the design process to help maximise the airflow. We were able to experiment with the airflow entering the chamber from the inlet tract into the lower airbox, by changing the position of the filter, the size and location of the louvres and other variables to ensure that the intake is maximising performance. The 3D printed prototypes helped with comparing our simulation testing to real world driving conditions. Please see our video on YouTube which shows dyno testing of our final prototype. This is a valuable comparison that is used in the top tiers of motorsport, now being brought to your vehicle. *Get 10% off the induction kit and inlet duct when purchased together (code automatically applied at checkout) The Carbon Fibre Using carbon fibre brings obvious benefits of strength, lightweight and aesthetics. However, a part that is often forgotten is its low thermal conductivity, which means it reduces heat soak and transmission of said heat to nearby items. Keeping Inlet Air Temps (IAT’s) low is often a difficult part of developing induction systems, so replacing metal or plastic inlet solutions for FMINDK50 will help decrease IAT’s and increase the volume of air supplied to your vehicles engine that is compressed by the turbo charger. This has a better effect on performance when cool as this is to provide the engine with more oxygen (denser air), thus improving the combustion in each cylinder. In addition, by regulating and reducing the air temperature, it also increases the reliability of an engine by keeping the AFRs (Air Fuel Ratios) in each cylinder at a safe level, which in turn, can increase an engines power due to the air being cooler. A bigger bang is then created within the cylinder, providing the correct amount of fuel is added. This can equate to an increase in BHP and torque. The Inlet Hose The sound resonator and accordion ribs on the OEM inlet hose cause significant turbulence to the airflow causing a detriment to the engine’s potential performance. Our improved solution, FMINLH25 (included in this kit), gives you a host of performance upgrades, including: Improved induction noise. Multi ply silicone construction improves longevity of FMINLH25 over that of the OEM hose. 5 ply silicone construction will be able to handle strain of engine mapping far better than OEM hose. Increase of diameter at airbox end from 85mm to 90mm. Lifetime warranty. Testing   Testing was completed using Performance Remap in Gloucester with their VTEC 4 wheel drive dynamometer. This was to ensure all our data has been achieved with results as accurately as possible by an independent tuner. The results below speak for themselves, also with the added benefit of being a very easy component to fit with no specialist tools this is superb, affordable modification for the BMW enthusiast. From the Dyno Graph shown above performance gains can be expected from 2500RPM to the red line with 11BHP and around 16NM of torque at peak RPM. The torque increase is clearly visible on the dyno graph and is clear when driving the car. As soon as it comes onto boost you can feel that hit of extra torque pushing you all the way to the redline. The M140i tested on the dyno was stock other than a Pipercross performance panel filter, but with a tuned vehicle you will see greater percentage gains as the vehicle will be able to utilise the increase in volume of cold air. FMINDK50 is part of our acclaimed Hi Flow range and will ensure that your vehicle is getting critical cold air. Not only is the Forge part a better option for performance, but the carbon fibre really helps to give the engine bay some character. The weave of the carbon has been optimised to match the carbon on the intake manifold, which really shows the level of detail we put into our designs. The high-quality carbon fibre is prepreg 2x2 twill formed in an autoclave from billet tooling and finished with an anti UV gloss gel coat. The Forge Motorsport lifetime warranty* on all hardware products shows the trust we have in the quality of our products while they are being enjoyed on your pride and joy. The kit comes complete with everything you need for installation (FMINDK50 carbon induction kit and FMINLH25 inlet hose), which can be carried out in around 1 hour, including a set of full colour instructions. For such an easy to fit product it truly does create some remarkable gains. If you are looking at whether FMINDK50 fits a vehicle not specified in our compatible vehicle listing, please check if your OEM upper airbox has a channel for the strut bar to fit through, if it does FMINDK50 will not fit your vehicle. Please contact us with a photo of your engine bay if you have any questions. Induction Kit and Inlet Duct Package FMINLD2 is a simple bolt-on product which is easy to fit in approximately 45 minutes with no specialist tool, drilling or cutting required. Not only is the Forge part a better option for performance, but the carbon fibre really helps to give the front of your BMW a pleasant aesthetic appearance. The high-quality composite fibre is manufactured from 100% prepreg 2x2 carbon fibre twill formed in an autoclave from billet tooling and finished with an anti UV gloss gel coat.  Get 10% off FMINDK50 and FMINLD2 when bought together (code automatically applied at checkout) *Please note - the filter is excluded from the Forge lifetime warranty*

  • Forge Motorsport - Inlet Hose for BMW B58 (M140i, M240i, M340i, M440i)

    forge Motorsport Forge Motorsport - Inlet Hose for BMW B58 (M140i, M240i, M340i, M440i)

When looking at the B58 engine within the M140i/240i/340i/440i engine bay it’s clear that BMW had left some room for modification within the inlet tract, the sound resonator and accordion ribs cause significant turbulence to the airflow causing a detriment to the engine’s potential performance. By removing these, and replacing it with five-ply silicone construction you gain a host of performance upgrades, including: Significant power gain of over 9bhp engine power and 7nm of torque. Improved induction noise. Multi ply silicone construction improves longevity of FMINLH25 over that of the OEM hose. 5 ply silicone construction will be able to handle strain of engine mapping far better than OEM hose. Fitting with no specialist tools in approximately half an hour.   Vehicle Fitment: BMW 1 Series F20/F21/F40 3/5 Dr Hatchback 2012 Onwards M140i 2016-2019 (B58) 2 Series F22/F23 2Dr Coupe/Convertible 2014 Onwards M240 2016-2021 (B58) 3 Series F30/F31 Saloon/Estate 2011-2019 340i 2015-2019 (B58) Testing was completed using Performance Remap in Gloucester with their VTEC 4 wheel drive dynamometer, This was to ensure all our data has been achieved with results as accurately as possible by an independent tuner. The results below speak for themselves, also with the added benefit of being a very easy component to fit with no specialist tools this is superb, affordable modification for the BMW enthusiast. From the dyno graph shown, performance gains can be expected from 4500RPM to the red line with +9BHP and +7NM of torque at peak RPM. Not only is FMINLH25 a functional improvement, but with it being available in black and red this product really helps to improve the aesthetics of the engine bay. One major difference of FMINLH25 is the diameter of the hose at the airbox end. Usually this is 85mm diameter, however FMINLH25 is 90mm diameter, and uses a silicone reducer sleeve so that it fits the OEM airbox correctly. This increase of 5mm diameter allows the inlet hose to be used with a wider variety of airbox/intake systems while also increasing the volume and de-restricting the flow of the OEM part,     This product is a direct fit for the OEM part 13718601682 (just the turbo inlet to airbox section). The hoses are suitable to be used with either modern long-life coolants, Organic Acid Technology coolants (O.A.T.) or air containing oil mist. The construction of the hoses has been engineered to exceed that of the OEM fitments and will enhance any engine bay both technically and aesthetically. Lifetime warranty. Why not pair this with our Forge Motorsport replacement high flow panel filter (FMPAN-0172) if you are using the OEM airbox.

Press Release The third generation of BMW’s 1 Series was launched in 2019, with the chassis name F40. For the performance range topping F40, BMW revived the ‘M135i’ moniker, which had not made an appearance on the back of a Baby BMW since its predecessor, the F20 M135i. Sporting BMW’s B48 2 litre, 4-cylinder engine with Twin Power Turbo technology, the B48 produces 306hp and a thumping 332lb ft of torque. These punchy figures fire the M135i from 0-62MPH in just 4.8 seconds and on to an electronically limited top speed of 155 MPH. The M135i is shipped from the factory with a muted exhaust sound leading to a very disappointing driving experience. Along with increased performance, Cobra Sport were keen to put the emotion back into the drive with an improved aural and emotional experience. Cobra Sport opted for 3”/76.2mm stainless steel pipework which is larger than most on the market for the biggest upgrade in terms of performance, flow rate and sound levels. The free-flowing Cobra Sport exhaust setup completely transforms the vehicle and will open up the future tuning possibilities of the BMW M135i (F40). During the design stages, Cobra Sport made sure that all of the configurations are interchangeable so that customers can add to their system over the coming years. We imagine most will start with the PPF back configuration which can be fitted without the need for any engine tuning as it keeps the stock catalyst and PPF in place (MOT compliant). Adding a PPF delete section would create the cat back setup and customers going down the tuning route can add a high flow sports catalyst or de-cat front pipe to create a full turbo back setup. For those who want further improve sound levels, Cobra Sport offers their unique rear silencer delete range. This exhaust setup removes the rear silencer to offer the biggest sound increase whilst keeping a sporty exhaust tone (+13.1dB in PPF back rear silencer delete configuration). The Cobra Sport team were able to reduce the weight of the exhaust system by an impressive 49% over the OEM system with the PPF back rear silencer delete system weighing in at only 9.02kg compared to the original 17.8kg. Cobra Sport have improved the styling of the BMW M135i, creating a noticeably enhanced and balanced look to the rear of the M135i with a choice of dual 4” (101.6mm) and 4.5” (114.3mm) slash cut highly polished stainless-steel tailpipes. For those looking to take the style upgrade a stage further, upgraded carbon fibre tailpipes are available. Like all Cobra Sport exhausts, the M135i F40 exhausts are TIG-welded from high-quality T304 stainless steel and the mandrel pipework is a full 3” (76.2mm) in diameter for maximum sound and tuning potential.
