    This valve is an upgrade for the 2.0 turbocharged M133 DE20 LA (265 kW 355BHP version)  engine found in the Mercedes AMG A45 upto 2015. The engine as supplied by AMG has a port for a dump valve on the side of the turbo, but it is blanked off. Whilst this is fine for the stock level of tune, as the boost is turned up when the car is remapped, driveability can be effected and the car can stutter on hard acceleration, which ultimately will reduce the life of the turbo.     TECHNICAL DATA Despite the AMG four’s high boost levels, these vehicles do not have a bypass valve fitted from the factory. This is likely because the plastic valves typically found in OEM setups would not be capable of handling the A45’s 26PSI of boost without failing prematurely. As a result, the AMG 45 models suffer from a significant amount of compressor surge. Compressor surge, combined with the A45’s high boost pressures, equals a recipe for disaster for the bearings inside the turbocharger. Enter Turbosmart’s Kompact Shortie Blow-Off Valve for the A45, CLA45 and GLA45 AMG. This high performance billet aluminium valve bolts straight onto the the compressor cover of the AMG’s turbocharger. With both Dual Port and Plumb Back variants available, owners can choose between the classic blow-off valve sound afforded by the Dual Port’s 50-50 split between recirculating and vent-to-atmosphere operation, or the quieter and OEM-like operation of the Plumb Back. Both variants dramatically reduce the compressor surge experienced by the A45 in standard form. The Shortie’s billet construction and high performance piston design, which eliminates the need for an O-ring to seal the body of the blow-off valve against the piston due to extremely fine machining tolerances, means the valve has no problem coping with the boost pressures produced by the AMG’s turbo, ensuring no leaks and extreme durability – even if you decide to turn the boost up. The VR03 Kompact Shortie Kit for the A45, CLA45 and GLA45 AMG includes a Boost Reference Adapter that allows the blow-off valve to respond to engine vacuum instantly, providing a greater level of control compared to electronically operated valves. This is possible by allowing the valve to access a manifold pressure reference in the AMG’s otherwise closed system – all without any destructive methods, such as tapping into the intake manifold. The Boost Reference Adapter offers two pressure ports, allowing you to run a second manifold pressure operated accessory, such as a boost gauge. The spacers were developed to produce the great atmospheric BOV sound that is expected from your turbocharged vehicle, although normally lacking on your vehicle. This CNC machined spacer, made from solid billet aluminium, gives you that sound you have been looking for. When letting off the throttle you get that sweet and satisfying “whoosh” letting everyone know your Mercedes is in fact turbocharged. It has been designed to work with the original electrically controlled solenoid and utilises high quality o-rings for a perfect seal. Mercedes equipped your car from the factory with a recirculating style turbocharger valve which allows the charge air to be routed around the turbocharger from the boost side back to the intake side. The downside to this style of system is it recirculates the hot air back into the intake side of the turbo, increasing temperatures.     The T9388 is the latest addition to the DV+ range of diverter valves from GFB (Go Fast Bits). It is designed as a complete drop-in replacement for the OEM diverter valve in late-model Mercedes vehicles. Unlike the earlier generation diverter valves manufactured by Pierburg, the newer AMG-branded OEM valves cannot be disassembled and incorporated into a DV+. Therefore, GFB developed the T9388 with a low-profile integrated solenoid as a complete replacement for both the AMG and Pierburg diverter valves, enabling a hassle-free installation with no clearance issues. Like all valves in the DV+ range, the new T9388 delivers the following benefits over the OEM diverter valve: Improved boost holding Sharper throttle response Faster boost recovery after a gearshift or brief throttle lift Unrivalled longevity, backed by our Lifetime Warranty Improved Boost Holding Since electronic OEM diverter valves first appeared in the mid-2000s, there have been many revisions over the years in an attempt to address reliability issues. Whilst the latest generation of OEM diverter valves has become more reliable, there is always a performance trade-off due to their operational method and plastic construction. When GFB engineers performed boost leak testing on the OEM diverter valve in a C63S, they found the leak was significantly larger than in earlier generations. This excessive leaking is due to the emerging trend of manufacturers mounting diverter valves remotely on plastic intercooler tanks rather than directly on the turbocharger. A plastic valve mechanism closing onto a plastic seat resulted in the largest OEM diverter valve leak we’ve seen yet at 28L/min at 1 Bar of boost. Even with the Viton face seal (featured on all DV+ pistons), the plastic OEM seat face was found to be so uneven that it was impossible to achieve a reliable seal. The T9388 successfully addresses this issue by incorporating an integral piston seat machined into its body. This design ensures a proper seal, even on uneven plastic OEM seats. Sharper throttle response, faster boost recovery after brief throttle lift Factory electronic diverter valves are binary in operation – they’re either open or shut. Your throttle, however, isn’t. When you make small throttle adjustments, the binary operation of the factory diverter results in abrupt changes in power delivery, which is the very definition of poor throttle response. The DV+ patented “pilot actuation” system allows the piston to open and close progressively, thereby smoothing the power delivery during throttle modulation, and ultimately improving throttle response. However, venting to atmosphere gives it the signature blow-off sound, whilst the DV+ keeps things quiet. Competitors' products for the same vehicles that make sound (i.e. BOV "Spacers") typically retain the performance deficiencies of the factory diverter valve, delete the ECU control, or require frequent maintenance and rebuilds. The VTA on the other hand is the complete package - performance, fit, reliability, and sound! Like the DV+, GFB’s VTA range of BOVs utilise GFB’s proven TMS Technology to ensure rapid boost recovery on gearshift and optimum throttle response, as well as superior boost holding. However, where the DV+ and the VTA range differ is what they do with the vented air. VTA BOVs vent to atmosphere to make the signature turbo blow-off sound, where the DV+ recirculates the air to keep it quiet. Each valve in the VTA range is designed specifically for the applications we list them for, ensuring the best fit and performance. Most of the VTA range are designed for use on cars with solenoid type factory diverter valves, and in those cases the VTA kit will retain the solenoid and ECU control. Like the DV+ though, it replaces the weak factory valve internals to ensure strength and reliability, especially in high boost applications. Other versions of the VTA are designed for use on cars that do not have any kind of factory fitted diverter valve. Vehicle manufacturers have deleted the troublesome solenoid type diverter valve from some of the newer models, but this leads to turbo compressor surge which can be taxing on the turbo in the long run. The VTA valves for these cars are designed to re-introduce the function of a diverter/blow-off valve to help protect the turbo in the long term and provide a blow-off sound.
