Emerald Struts Warranty Policy

Important – All Products:
  • It is advisable to keep all original packaging.
  • Warranty coverage is continual from the initial date of purchase and does not restart at anytime under any circumstances.
  • This limited warranty is valid only when the product receives all necessary preventative maintenance and servicing as described in the relevant User Manual.
  • Modifications to the product will void your warranty.
  • This warranty covers machine used and operated within the UK mainland only.
Not covered by this Limited Warranty (Gas Struts Specific):
  • Damage caused by failing to following the installation instructions provided.
  • Damage caused by failing to following the adjustment instructions provided (Adjustable Gas struts only).
  • Damage caused by tooling or marking the piston rod in any way.
  • Damage caused by neglecting to keep the strut away from moisture, dirt and dust.
  • Damage caused by lubricating / greasing / oiling a strut (unless specifically instructed to by someone from Emerald Struts / CEUK).
  • Damage caused by failing to equally distribute weight between struts.
  • Damage caused by failing to screw end fixings all the way in.
  • Damage caused by gripping, scratching, chipping, bending, wetting, soiling or painting the gas strut.
  • Damage caused by cycling a strut more than 5 times per minute.
  • Damage caused by over-extending or over-compressing a gas strut.
  • Gas struts must be replaced or installed as a pair to prevent voiding of the warranty - this is because the force between a pair of struts must be kept equal to prevent side loading and premature failure of the gas strut.
  • Gas struts may not perform to full operation during cold weather, this is due to temperature drops & loss of pressure within the strut chamber.
  • Our automatic gas struts may cause the boot harder to close than factory fitted (OEM), this is due to more pressure inside the gas chambers.

Emerald Struts FAQ's

Will they make my boot hard to close?

Define "Hard to close"? The law of physics suggests that for something to come up with force, its naturally going to make it stiffer to go down, however - closing the boot is still as easy as it was before!

Do I need any special tools for installation?

No special tools are required. Our kit includes everything you need for installation, and basic household tools like a flat bladed tool may be needed.

Can I install Emerald Struts myself, or do I need a professional?

Emerald Struts are designed for easy DIY installation. However, if you are not comfortable with installing them yourself, you may opt for professional installation.

What should I do if I encounter issues during installation?

If you encounter any issues, please refer to our troubleshooting guide or contact our customer support for assistance.

How do I maintain my Emerald Struts?

Regularly check for any signs of wear and tear and clean the struts with a damp cloth. Apply lithium grease to the ball studs periodically to ensure smooth operation.

Are there specific cleaning instructions for Emerald Struts?

Yes, simply wipe the struts with a damp cloth to remove any dirt or debris. Avoid using harsh chemicals that could damage the protective coating.

How often should I check my Emerald Struts for wear and tear?

We recommend checking your struts every six months for any signs of wear and tear to ensure they remain in optimal working condition.

What should I do if my struts start making noise?

If your struts start making noise, it could indicate the need for lubrication or that a part needs to be tightened or replaced. Please refer to our maintenance guide or contact customer support for help.

Installing your Emerald Struts

Step 1: Remove OEM StrutStep 1: Remove OEM Strut

Support your tailgate open or ask someone to hold it for you while you remove your OEM gas struts. Use a flat-bladed tool to remove the metal clips, then pull the strut ball sockets away from the car.

Step 2: Clean & GreaseStep 2: Clean & Grease

Remove any dirt or debris from your ball studs and apply lithium grease from our store. This will help ensure the smooth opening of the boot.

Step 3: Install New StrutsStep 3: Install New Struts

Remove the four metal securing pins from our Emerald Struts. Insert one ball socket onto your car's ball stud until you hear a click. Repeat this for all four struts, then reinsert the metal securing pins you removed earlier.

Step 4: Close Boot & OpenStep 4: Close Boot & Open

You can now close the tailgate. There will be added pressure, which is normal. Once closed, hold down or click the unlock button twice on your key fob, and the boot will open automatically.
