CROSS OVER PIPE The Revo engineering team knew that to create the most effective kit, every component had to be considered to maximise and smooth airspeed. The system is designed around the single-piece aluminium cross over pipe, mandrel-bent to maintain the internal diameter in the corner and to remove the restrictions found in the OEM pipe. The direct routing and increased diameter pipe offer superior flow and deliver more air to the turbocharger over a shorter period.   SILICONE HOSES The plastic hoses on the stock system are designed with a corrugated style to flex with the engine movement, while this has its place it also causes a large amount of turbulence as the airflow doesn’t have a smooth direct path to the turbo. We designed the silicone hoses with stepped internals to ensure a flush fit and to minimise turbulence while still allowing for engine movement. The turbo inlet hose has an increased inner diameter that gradually tapers from the hard pipe to turbo to optimise airflow.   AIR FILTER An intake system is only as good as the filter. This kit comes complete with a custom Revo foam filter, supported by galvanised epoxy-coated mesh for strength under load. Revo three-stage foam filters work very differently to conventional paper or cotton-gauze alternatives designed to trap particles on the outer layer. Revo filters trap debris and particles within the foam layers, allowing air to still navigate through. The spun base of the filter offers a smooth radius aluminium bell mouth, specifically designed for optimum airflow from the filter to pipe-work.   HEATSHIELD Ensuring the engine has access to cold air is vital for performance. The Revo heat shield channels cold air from the front intake duct while partitioning the filter from the heat of the engine bay. The Revo Heatshield uses the stock mounting points to provide easy and secure installation. MOUNTING BRACKET AND FITTING KIT The Revo kits come complete with a full fitting kit that allows for easy installation. Included is a fully machined crossover bracket which increases the strength of this fixture point and alleviates any possibility of bracket failure from engine movement. RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT All Revo products are designed in-house and are rigorously tested utilising an in-house 3D printer, latest CAD and CFD programs, hub dyno and Revo data acquisition software. The Revo intake allows the turbo to run more efficiently, intake a larger volume of air and minimise turbulence to increase both power and torque, as highlighted during controlled dyno testing. The Revo Fiesta Mk8 open cone air intake system was tested in-house to compare the performance against that of the Ford OEM intake. First tested on a vehicle running the OEM intake with Revo Stage 1 software, Revo Intercooler and a Milltek GPF back exhaust, the Revo intake was then installed and tested in the same controlled environment to highlight the benefits of enhanced cooling. PERFORMANCE DATA The results show improvement throughout the whole rev range, but especially towards the top end of the rev range. The Revo intake offering an average gain of +7WHP, and +11NM torque over the stock part. Increased airflow also delivers impressive peak performance gains of +14WHP @6200rpm and +19NM @5100RPM over the stock intake system. AIRFLOW More air, less restriction. The Revo system was tested on a flow bench to highlight the kits efficiency in allowing more air to reach the turbo, quickly and with less restriction. The OEM system reached its maximum potential of 490 cubic feet per minute with a restriction of 1082 mmWg, compared to the Revo system which was able to flow 700 CFM with a restriction of only 965 mmWg. The Revo inlet hose geometry allows faster air delivery to the turbo by smoothing the harsh 90° transition part of the stock pipe. Also removing the internal steps between components further ensures uninterrupted airflow and removes any unnecessary turbulence.   ALLOY HARD PIPE The Revo mid-section hard pipe offers a smoother internal geometry over the stock part it replaces, all contributing to the increased performance benefits of the Revo Intake. The OE intake was a clear choking point in the vehicle’s performance from the outset, highlighting an area in need of improvement. This air intake system upgrade includes a Revo Pro Panel Filter, two flush-fit silicone hoses to minimise air restriction and turbulence and an alloy hard pipe with all OE connections for perfect OEM fitment. Revo filters work by trapping dirt particles within each of the oiled foam layers while allowing air to negotiate its way through, reducing restriction and offering much longer service intervals. SILICONE HOSES The plastic hoses on the stock system have a corrugated style design to flex with the engine movement, while this has its place it also causes a large amount of turbulence as the airflow doesn’t have a smooth direct path to the turbo. We designed the silicone hoses with stepped internals to ensure a flush fit, and to minimise turbulence while still allowing for engine movement.   ALLOY HARD PIPE The OE hard pipe section on the intake does its job as standard but when power is required it becomes a choking point. The Revo hard pipe has an increased bore size to match with the stepped silicone hoses providing ample flow for various stages of tuning. The hard pipe also has OE style machined fittings for both the breather and DV connections allowing complete OE fitment.   RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT All Revo products are designed in-house and are rigorously tested utilising an in-house 3D printer, latest CAD and CFD programs, hub dyno and Revo data acquisition software. While dyno testing for performance gains, VCDC software was used to log airflow. The Revo Carbon Series Intake increased vehicle performance, especially over 3500rpm, highlighting the performance benefits over the stock components.   AIRFLOW The airflow comparison showed the Revo Carbon Series intake flowing 6 g/s higher at 4500rpm then stock. The stock system had a maximum airflow of 178g/s while the Revo intake allowed an increased flow of 184g/s. The carefully designed silicone hose has its own support bracket mated to a machined hose fitting, maintaining the correct position during engine movement. A constant taper in the hose ensures a smooth transition of airflow from the air filter to turbo and results in an increase in air volume over the stock part. Further helped by the machined inlet that matches to the turbo inlet for the ultimate in airflow characteristics.   DYNO GRAPH Testing was carried out on a VW Polo GTI 1.8 TSI (6 Speed manual) with Revo Stage 1 Software fitted with the OEM system and then the Revo Air Intake System. With a consistent gain throughout the rev range, the Revo intake offered a peak gain of 20HP at the hubs and 20NM torque over the stock part.     Revo Air Intake SystemIncreased Power, Torque & Throttle Response OVERVIEW The Revo OEM+ Air Intake System for the Ford Fiesta ST is a high performance upgrade that utilises the stock air box, offering gains in both power and torque. Initial flow testing of the OEM system highlighted the restriction and turbulence caused by the pipe joining the turbo to the airbox. The route varies in diameter and convolutions in the pipe slow airflow to the turbo, choking the engine. The OEM airbox performed far better than expected when used in conjunction with the Revo enhancements. The Revo system is the only kit currently available that replaces the rear plastic back-pipe with a one-piece 70mm aluminium pipe. Automotive grade silicone couplers connect the system to the stock airbox and a Revo 3 stage foam panel filter replaces the restrictive paper filter. The OEM system reached its maximum potential of 300 Cubic Feet per Minute(CFM) with a restriction of 759.3 mmWg, the Revo system was able to flow up to 350 CFM with a mmWg restriction of only 761. At the same 300 CFM point there is a difference of 151 mmWg between the stock and Revo OEM+ intake.
