When the DSG heats up, especially when launch control is used, it is common for DSG fluid to escape through the breather hose on the transmission, coating the entire underside of the hood and engine bay in DSG fluid.The 034Motorsport Billet Aluminum DSG Breather Catch Can addresses the issues with the factory breather, allowing for ample system breathability while trapping any fluid that escapes out of the breather hose and draining it back into the DSG. 034Motorsport's engineers invested significant effort in developing and testing to create the most comprehensive and effective catch can kit for the 2.0T EA888 Gen 4 motor. Fitment -Volkswagen   Golf Mk8 -Audi  A3 (8Y 2020-)  S3 (8Y) Why is the OE PCV System Insufficient? While the EA888.4 PCV system is a step up from the EA888.3, this current generation system is still largely based on the previous generation’s design with some improvements. The new PCV features a revised diaphragm and check valve system to help regulate crankcase pressures better and an improved oil separator with a new internal baffle to reduce the amount of oil vapor that could be recirculated into the intake manifold. Despite these improvements, we still see oil and water vapors entering the intake tract in our long-term extreme testing. These contaminants pool in various components of the intake tract and get sucked into the engine, producing carbon build-up on the intake valves and leading to oil consumption. This issue is exacerbated when pushing beyond stock power levels. What’s the fix? Utilizing our years of experience in Motorsport Racing, 034Motorsport engineers designed a Catch Can Kit that intercepts these oil vapors before entering the turbo inlet in an intricate baffle that allows the engine to continue ingesting the excess crankcase pressure but traps unwanted oil and water vapors. Once collected by the 034Motorsport Catch Can, this excess fluid can drain into the oil pan with the integrated drain line, similar to the operation of the factory PCV Air Oil Separator. This decreases oil in your intake tract and reduces carbon buildup on intake valves, resulting in a cleaner combustion process. In addition to maintaining a cleaner combustion process, our kit integrates with the factory EA888.4 Venturi system to help maintain optimal crankcase pressures. This factory system is a huge step up over previous generations of the EA888 as it significantly improves the PCV’s overall effectiveness by allowing for consistent evacuation of crankcase gases. 034Motorsport is pleased to introduce the P34 Performance Air Intake System for 1.8T / 2.0T EA888 Gen3 MQB Vehicles 034Motorsport’s engineers invested significant effort in developing a comprehensive performance intake solution for Audi/Volkswagen EA888 1.8T/2.0T Gen 3 engines, which provides noticeable gains in horsepower and torque over the factory airbox. Throughout the development process, multiple designs were modeled, prototyped, and tested, to ensure that the P34 Air Intake System delivers measurable performance benefits and excellent fitment. OPTIMIZING AIRFLOW 034Motorsport engineers started by identifying the shortcomings of the factory intake system to determine which components restricted airflow to the turbocharger inlet. While the factory lower airbox and fresh air duct to the core support were more than sufficient for increased power levels, the factory air filter, upper airbox, and turbo inlet tube were deemed too restrictive, even with the factory turbocharger034Motorsport's mechanical engineers scanned the factory engine bay and modeled a one-piece unit to replace the factory intake tube and upper airbox. By eliminating the multiple couplers, transitions, and jagged features in the factory upper airbox and intake tube, 034Motorsport's engineering team was able to drastically reduce turbulence in the intake tract, and virtually eliminate pressure drop in the intake system before the turbo inlet. Multiple iterations were prototyped in plastic using 034Motorsport's in-house FDM 3D printer and thoroughly tested. Ultimately, the best-performing design was a fully-enclosed unit featuring a large-diameter one-piece intake tube with smooth transitions all the way back to the factory turbo inlet. TRUE COLD AIR INTAKE To ensure that the P34 Air Intake System draws in cool, dense air, 034Motorsport engineers opted for an enclosed design to prevent hot air from the engine bay entering the intake tract. By bolting to the factory lower airbox, this approach allows the enclosed high-flow panel filter to breathe fresh, cold air from the factory inlet duct before the radiator.
