Airtec AIRTEC MOTORSPORT ENGINE OIL BREATHER SYSTEM FOR ST150
Designed at AIRTEC Motorsport, we developed this breather kit package to suit modified Fiesta ST150 models after finding our own supercharged demo car would often show signs of excessive oil residue pushed through the breather pipes, cam cover and crank case breather during fast road and track use. This would in-turn cause residue and vapour build up as well as smoke as the excess oil was diverted back into the intake and ultimately into the engine’s inlet. We have also seen similar traits in naturally aspirated examples with uprated camshafts or even remaps. Our kit is based around an oil breather tank that is designed to separate the oil from the vapour where it would usually be diverted back into the intake. The tank then collects the oil and features a level indicator, which once full can be easily emptied by removing the drain located at the bottom. The kit also includes an inlet manifold blank off pipe (as you will not need the to breathe back into the inlet manifold anymore), as well as two specially made Pro Hoses silicone lines, a mesh filter and all fixtures and fittings, including jubilee clips. This kit is designed to fit with the original PCV set up but can be adapted to fit with our AIRTEC Motorsport billet PCV baffle plate (or other aftermarket PCV plates) with an additional hose and fitting – please get in contact with your specific requirements. As part of our expanding Audi product range, AIRTEC Motorsport are proud to launch our cast turbo elbow for the RS3 8V kit for fast road or track use. The bottle neck of the 2.5 TFSI engine is the turbo elbow, which reduces down in diameter massively as it passes down behind the engine to the turbo. Our approach to improving this focused on making the very most of the available space and as a result, our in-house design engineer team were able to create an elbow design that is unrivalled on the market for it’s increase in diameter and improvement in flow. Featuring a 4″/102mm inlet, the elbow gently tapers down with no aggressive step to ensure optimum flow from start to finish with a substantially increased volume over standard. As a result, the AIRTEC Motorsport enlarged elbow measures a huge 8,171mm² at its widest cross-sectional measurement, compared to the original pipe’s 5,026mm² at its widest point, therefore offering a huge increase of 62.5%. On average, it’s 30% larger internally compared to the standard elbow, offering a huge increase in capacity. This improves throttle response and reduces restriction, which is key for those chasing increased power from their cars. A direct replacement part, the elbow is made from high-quality cast aluminium and has been designed to work with other our own AIRTEC Motorsport induction it (similar sized induction kits should also fit). To fit the right-hand drive models, an indentation has been introduced to allow clearance for the brake master cylinder. Airtec AIRTEC Motorsport Gearbox Oil Cooler for Honda Civic FL5 Type R
As part of our expanding Honda product range, AIRTEC Motorsport are proud to launch our uprated gearbox oil cooler suitable for track or fast road use. To date, there is no other company offering a gearbox oil cooler on the market, but our kit hasn’t just been designed to help cool the transmission, it also helps remove heat from the engine’s cooling system, which helps reduce crucial operating temperatures. This is because from the factory, there is a simple heat exchanger/oil Modine located by the gearbox that uses the engine’s coolant to help cool the gearbox oil. But by adding an external oil cooler into this existing loop, both gearbox and engine running temperature are effectively reduced. The substantial increase in gearbox oil volume thanks to the cooler and lines also help keep temperatures lower for longer. The oil cooler itself mounts neatly to a supplied replacement lower brace bar behind the rad pack that is stronger and more rigid than the original Honda brace it replaces. The comprehensive package also features an air duct panel to direct fresh air to the oil cooler. Why do I need a catch can?The original oil breather set up can cause issues with carbon build-up inside the engine’s intake system over time. It forms an oily sludge that covers parts of the intake and inlet valves, which reduces air flow and therefore performance and efficiency. Once the build-up has formed, it’s a costly process to clean, so it makes sense to take preventative measures in order to avoid carbon build-up forming. A catch can also filters harmful contaminants before they can reach the inlet system. Developed in-house at AIRTEC HQ in the UK, we’ve created a comprehensive solution to improving the car’s oil cooling ability for modified Swift owners who struggle to maintain steady oil temperatures on track, or during fast road use. With huge experience in developing external oil cooler packages for a variety of modified track and road cars, and aware of the Swift’s oil cooling issues during heavy track use, the challenge with this kit was to integrate a large capacity, external oil cooler neatly behind the grille with the limited space available. As a result, our kit features bespoke laser-cut mounting brackets to ensure the perfect fitment of our 13-row AIRTEC Motorsport oil cooler. The front part of the original undertray on these cars is notoriously weak due to its fibre material construction and as a result is prone to failure over time. Our solution is a direct replacement, three-piece undertray made in aluminium that reuses all of the original mounting points to ensure a perfect and secure fitment. Unlike others on the market, the design of the oil cooler extraction ducting has also been carefully considered to imitate the original in order to maintain sufficient cooling. As a result, the sides of the ducts are enclosed against the oil cooler and the radius of the ducting increased in size. There are also brake duct cut outs to allow the use of a GT4-style splitter with brake cooling ducts. The IssueThe original undertray on these cars is made from plastic and features a large opening to allow air to cool the engine’s oil cooler, which is mounted close to the floor. However, due to the oil cooler’s low-level placement and lack of protection from road debris that may flick up, it is left open and exposed to damage, which could cause imminent engine failure. The SolutionOur solution to creating a direct replacement undertray in aluminium began with a full 3D scan of the vehicle’s underside to ensure a perfect fitment that reuses all original mounting points. As a result, it requires no drilling or cutting and is completely reversible if required. It also retains the original BMW rubber bumper trim. The laser-cut mesh section ensures no substantial debris can damage the oil cooler and our design also features an additional venting in the stepped section to further improve air flow.
