This freer-flowing intercooler is a direct replacement for the smaller and more restrictive OEM set up. Despite this improvement, it fits neatly behind the original bumper, requires no trimming or cutting and can be used with the original hoses. As with all AIRTEC products, the intercooler was tested back-to-back on the dyno aginist the OEM item. This showed a huge reduction in air charge temperatures over standard. Our test car was fitted with a Cobra cat-back exhaust system and running Revo Stage 1 software. Stock intercooler temps reduce to an average of 64 degrees and peak at 68 degrees (after 5 back-to-back runs). On the Stage 1 Revo software, the car struggled to produce a peak power increase of 40bhp, due to the restrictive and inefficient OEM VW intercooler being unable to cool the intake temperatures effectively. With the AIRTEC intercooler fitted, the IAT saw a huge drop of 120 degrees, keeping temps much closer to ambient temperature and proving to be more reliable run after run. This gave a huge increase in performance, shown by the dyno test results below. TECHNICAL DATA AIRTEC Motorsport front mount intercooler kit for the R35 GT-R, dedicated to offering the best cooling solution to suit up to Stage 4.5 modified GT-Rs. Designed in-house at AIRTEC HQ in the UK, this replacement intercooler kit has been carefully developed to offer a hugely effective upgrade over the original Nissan intercooler. We dedicated a lot of time and effort to testing our kits, and went through several design evolutions during the development stage. As with every product we develop, it was tested first hand on a car in a real-world environment. The development car was originally running Stage 2, but was then upgraded with after adding the AIRTEC intercooler, AIRTEC intakes (soon to be released), Milltek downpipes and 1100cc injectors, backed up with a Stage 4.25 map at GT-R specialist Kaizer Motor. The car made an impressive 667.8bhp with consistently stable charge temps. The comprehensive kit comes with all fittings and fixtures and uses the car’s original mounting points to ensure an easy, direct fit that requires no cutting, drilling or modification.
