Here we present FMCT5, a twin catch can and coolant expansion tank system. This design has been subject to a vast amount of development and is a one of a kind product in the marketplace.  The FMCT5 is a direct replacement for the OE coolant expansion tank. The CAD laser cut alloy construction is skilfully welded at Forge UK HQ. The expansion tank has a level indicator inside the filler neck, to make topping up easier, we have also machined a cap cover that slots over the top of the OEM cap to add to the premium look. The twin catch can system is the definitive solution to effectively reduce sludge and carbon build up, in turn allowing the engine to both breathe and perform more efficiently. It can therefore be viewed as a genuine performance enhancing product and one, we recommend, particularly if you are planning more advanced power tuning in the future.  Our system filters both PCV and intake breather systems to help keep your engine clean from harmful contaminants, including oil deposits, unused fuel vapours and moisture, which would ordinarily make their way back through to the inlet of the engine. All of this is now collected in the catch cans. There is a dip stick for each tank to measure the amount of deposit caught, this opening can also be used to pump out the captured contaminants or alternately you can use the drain plugs at the bottom of the tanks. As with all Forge Motorsport products we have used superior braided hoses which are internally constructed from anti-static smooth fuel resistant nitrile rubber. This is combined with an outer cover made from reinforced stainless-steel wire braid (a Forge specialty), specifically a partial inner braid and a full cover outer braid. We developed this complex arrangement in order for the tank to be resistant to both pressure expansion and vacuum collapse, and also to enable the kit to function within a clearly defined temperature range – 54°C to +150°C (-65°F to 300°F). The FMCT5 is available in raw aluminium finish or our stealthy textured black powder coat finish. Although there are lots of universal oil coolers on the market, this oil cooler has been specifically designed to fit perfectly in the Fiats OEM intercoolers location, The oil cooler is manufactured at Forge Motorsport’s HQ in Gloucestershire, England by our highly skilled fabricators and carries a lifetime warranty*.Sitting in full air flow and mounted correctly with the oil flowing into the top of the oil cooler and exiting though the lower outlet, this avoids any chance of cavitation occurring within the oil cooler. Many people mount their oil coolers incorrectly which in turn stops them from working as well as they could. The oil filter housing on modern Fiat engines does not allow for the previously common take off plates to fit under the filter and divert oil into an oil cooler mounted elsewhere on the vehicle. Instead they now use an oil to water cooling ‘block’ bolted to the front of the engine, and in many cases an undersized filter or a paper drop in element, which prevents easy fitting of an oil cooler. As many people have found, if the vehicle is tuned or driven hard, oil temperatures can rocket to over 120°C (250°F) being easily achieved, which is close to the point that engine oil starts to break down. Therefore, it is essential to fit a Forge Motorsport oil cooler to your modified Fiat 500. Forge Motorsport have designed a CNC machined billet adaptor that replaces the oil to water cooling block. Although it still allows coolant to circulate, it more importantly offers two AN-10 take offs which allow fitment of the supplied oil cooler lines between the cooler itself and the Fiats engine oil galleries. This kit has been designed to address the weakness of the stock oil cooler – the cooler fitted to your car from Audi is aluminium, but the fittings on the ends of the cooler hoses are steel. The result is corrosion between the two different metals which cracks the fittings over time, causing a slow oil leak that gets worse with age, and eventually ends in a catastrophic failure of the oil cooler lines - and if you are unlucky, the engine too. Due to the corrosion setting in on the lines, they usually cannot be removed from the oil cooler without damaging it. This results in the need for the oil cooler and both lines to be replaced at a cost of over £1100 from the dealer, before you factor in consumables and labour to change the parts. Our solution uses tried and test products. It is a full replacement right from the fitting on the engine block which is precision made from 6082 billet aluminium, and then anodised to prevent any possibility of corrosion. This fitting leads to -12 AN Hose Technik black anodised aluminium fittings on Hose Technik braided lines with black overbraid. Cooling is accomplished by a 19 row Setrab oil cooler, the same manufacturer that supplies Audi and several F1 teams, again with a black finish. All the mating parts are similar materials and are tried and tested in Motorsport - there is no fear of corrosion affecting the fittings after a few years of use. The cooler is supported on a laser cut and powder coated frame that also holds the Audi fan control module in place. With everything finished in black, it makes for the ultimate stealth installation and unless you know what you are looking for, you won’t see it. The original remit of this replacement was to do away with all the troublesome Audi parts, which this kit accomplishes, but by relocating the oil cooler slightly higher than stock, we have also reduced the chances of damage from road debris. As many people have found, if the vehicle is tuned, or if it is towing a heavy load, oil temperatures can rocket, with oil temperatures over 120°C (250°F) being easily achieved, which is close to the point that engine oil starts to break down. The Forge Motorsport FMOC2 replaces the oil to water cooling block, and although it still allows coolant to circulate, it more importantly gives two M22 takeoffs which, when fitted with the appropriate adaptor, allow fitment of oil cooler lines between an -6 and an -10 in size which can then be attached to an external oil cooler. Oil temperatures are stabilised, and engines can be worked harder for longer. To confirm fitment, please check the list of compatible vehilces below. This plate replaces the VAG OEM Part No. 03L 117 021 C. It fits ALL of the 2.0TDi and 1.6 TDi engines in the vehicles listed below.
