Performance - Ford Focus MK1 (1998-2004)

Whilst the original chargecooler works well on standard car, as soon more boost is added from a simple remap, the original Ford radiator struggles to sustain safe temperatures, which in turn can make the car run slower as charge air temps increase and the ECU is forced to restrict power to combat it. Our Mk1 Focus RS chargecooler radiator upgrade features a 70mm core, which is 30mm bigger than the OEM radiator. This increases capacity to 9.7 litres, compared to tee original radiator, which measures 5.5 litres. This gives an overall increase in capacity of 76%. Best of all, it’s a direct fit with no extra modifying needed and simply reuses all the original fixings and fittings. AIRTEC Motorsport MIL light cheater. If you fit a de-cat or high flow sports catalyst to your car, you could run the risk of having an engine light turn on. This is usually due to the fact that the sensor is reading the added exhaust gas flow and it could identify this as a fault. This lambda sensor extension may solve this problem easily, however we do recommend a re-map to ensure the issue is resolved.

The original charge cooler kit works OK on standard cars but on modified cars with increased boost pressure, the coolant temps in the charge cooler system cannot cope and start to climb to dangerously high levels, which can cause your ACTs (Air Charge Temperature) to rise to over 55 degrees, leading to power loss & possible engine damage. By fitting a front mount intercooler these ACTs are kept a safe temperature, which in turn will help your engine produce more power safely (please see ACT results below). This kit will take you approximately 4-6 hours to fit and can be carried out at home. There is no cutting, grinding or welding and you don’t need to turn your turbo housing with this kit. Please note this kit has been designed to use K&N Gen2 or similar as the original airbox cannot be used.
