This is usually due to the fact that the sensor is reading the added exhaust gas flow and it could identify this as a fault. This lambda sensor extension may solve this problem easily, however we do recommend a re-map to ensure the issue is resolved.

This freer-flowing induction kit replaces the car’s original air box and restrictive intake set up. To date, there is no other company offering a gearbox oil cooler on the market, but our kit hasn’t just been designed to help cool the transmission, it also helps remove heat from the engine’s cooling system, which helps reduce crucial operating temperatures. This is because from the factory, there is a simple heat exchanger/oil Modine located by the gearbox that uses the engine’s coolant to help cool the gearbox oil. But by adding an external oil cooler into this existing loop, both gearbox and engine running temperature are effectively reduced. The substantial increase in gearbox oil volume thanks to the cooler and lines also help keep temperatures lower for longer. The oil cooler itself mounts neatly to a supplied replacement lower brace bar behind the rad pack that is stronger and more rigid than the original Honda brace it replaces. The comprehensive package also features an air duct panel to direct fresh air to the oil cooler.   As part of our expanding Honda platform product range, AIRTEC Motorsport is proud to launch our intercooler kit for the FL5 Civic Type R, suitable for track or fast road use. In order to ensure there is no noticeable loss in performance during extended periods of hard driving, we have developed a larger, freer-flowing intercooler that is a direct replacement for the smaller and more restrictive OEM item. Our solution to increasing the intercooler’s size and performance within the confines of the limited space behind the bumper is based upon a core design that is wider, taller and deeper.  This offers a massive 158% increase in overall capacity in comparison to the original intercooler, as well as a substantial 30% increase in frontal area over standard, which allows it to make the most of the air flow provided. Importantly, we opted not to utilise a full height intercooler as this wouldn’t allow for an uprated oil cooler in the future, so looking at the bigger picture for a complete cooling package, we chose a core that was a slightly higher and wider, but twice as deep. This still allows a huge increase in performance whilst allowing for an uprated oil cooler too.  The inlet and outlet sizes of the intercooler also increases from 55mm in and 59mm out to 65mm in and 70mm out, an increase of nearly 20% to further improve flow and can be used with the original pipework or our AIRTEC Motorsport larger diameter cold side boost pipe. The pipework also replaces the original O-ringed flanges with larger silicone hoses to improve flow and increase internal area. Together with our high-flow, moulded one-piece cast end tanks and an internal air diverter to ensure flow is directed correctly and efficiently, the AIRTEC Motorsport intercooler offers much greater efficiency and volume over standard. As part of our expanding Honda platform product range, AIRTEC Motorsport is proud to launch our external oil cooler kit for the FL5 Civic Type R, suitable for track or fast road use. With huge experience in developing external oil cooler packages for a variety of modified track and road cars, and aware of the FL5 Type R’s oil cooling issues during track use, the challenge with this kit was to neatly integrate a large capacity, external oil cooler where it could still benefit from direct air flow, whilst integrating seamlessly with the car’s existing fixtures and fittings with no drilling or cutting required. Unlike previous Type R models, mounting the oil cooler in the lower bumper wasn’t possible, so we chose to utilise the upper grille area and opted to design a unique oil cooler in order to make the very most of the limited space available, rather than use a generic off-the-shelf item.  As a result, in comparison to a universal 13-row oil cooler, our bespoke oil cooler has 45% more capacity and is 100%/twice as much frontal area, which means there is more air flow passing through the core to help cool it. We also purposely spaced the oil cooler away from the radiator to avoid any potential heat soak issues, creating a package that is unrivalled in the market.
