GFB 2002 LIGHTWEIGHT PULLEY KIT SUBARU IMPREZA GC/GF/GFC & FORESTER SF
GFB lightweight Under-Drive Pulley Kits have been designed to improve acceleration by reducing the rotational mass on the crankshaft. Engineered using premium quality 6061 T6 Billet Aluminium on Precision CNC machines, GFB lightweight pulley kits typically save up to 2.5kg of weight over the factory pulleys. WRX Non-underdriven Lightweight Crank Pulley We have re-designed our WRX lightweight pulley to provide even more benefits.It is now shaped to look exactly like the factory Subaru pulley, so it goes unnoticed in your engine bay - it even uses the factory belts.A significant amount of weight has been removed from around the rim for even better throttle response. The 2009 pulley now weighs in at 578g (previously 790g), compared to the factory 2180g on the WRX and 2575g on the STi.This pulley will improve throttle response (particularly off-boost response) and allow the engine to rev more freely in the upper rev range. It suits ALL Subaru EJ-series engines, and does not require additional belts. GFB 4002 STI 6-SPEED SHORT SHIFT KIT SUBARU IMPREZA GR/GH
Following on from our popular WRX short-shift kit, we have now released a new version to suit Subaru’s 6-speed gearbox found in all late-model STi’s, from MY02 and on.As with our WRX kit, the GFB STi short shift kit includes a unique clamp arrangement that allows the shift throw to be reduced much more than by changing the gearstick alone. As you can see from the picture, the GFB clamp eliminates the need to lift the gearbox linkage higher to reduce shift throw. Instead, you simply select one of the three holes.The factory shifter in an STi has a shift throw of 40mm per gate; the GFB unit is adjustable from the factory setting, right down to a tiny 22mm per gate! To put this into perspective, the best any aftermarket shifter (that replaces only the gearstick) can hope to achieve is 30mm per gate, without modifications to the linkages or surrounding bodywork. The photos opposite show the stock STi shifter vs the GFB shifter from 3rd to 4th gear.Installation is done completely from within the car, and is made much easier with the inclusion of a special tool for removal and installation of the reverse lock-out cable pin. GFB 4003 STI 6-SPEED SHORT SHIFT – BASIC KIT SUBARU IMPREZA GR / VA
New from GFB is the STi 6-speed Short Shift Basic Kit, which has been designed as an infinitely more affordable alternative to STi’s own aftermarket shifter.It is derived from the popular and unique GFB STi short shifter (part # 4002), which consists of two main parts; the gear lever and the linkage clamp, which work together to allow shift-throw adjustment over the largest range of any shifter on the market.The new Basic kit utilizes the adjustable gear lever from the 4002 kit, without the linkage clamp. This means the Basic kit allows shift throw adjustment, but over a smaller range. Importantly however, it is easily upgraded to the 4002 kit with the addition of the linkage clamp.So why choose the Basic over the 4002 kit?When using the full 4002 kit, some people find that the shorter settings are actually too extreme for their taste (particularly on MY06-08 models, as the factory shift is shorter than earlier versions), and only end up using a small amount of the shifter’s range. In such cases, the Basic kit gives the same result at a lower price.If however you decide that you want to go shorter, you can always purchase the linkage clamp separately and upgrade to the full 4002 kit at a later date – it really is win-win!As with the 4002 full kit, installation of the Basic kit is all done from within the car in about 30 minutes, and is made all the easier with the inclusion of GFB’s brilliant and unique pin-press tool – when you use it you’ll know why we included it and wonder why others don’t!So how much shorter is the throw?The GFB Basic kit is adjustable from the factory setting down to around 32-35mm per gate (depending on year model).Add the linkage clamp and the possible throw range drops to a miniscule 20-22mm (see photos opposite – these show the factory shifter vs the GFB full kit on a 3rd to 4th gearshift)! Like all GFB pulleys, the material used is 6000 series aluminium alloy billet, which nets a large weight saving of 1.4 kg over the factory pulley, without sacrificing strength or reliability.The kit comes complete with the required serpentine belt, and installation is dead easy – no specialized tools are required and it can be done in as little as 30 minutes. The accessories are under-driven by 20%, which does NOT compromise their performance at low RPM, but does help reduce parasitic losses at high RPM.Like all GFB lightweight under-drive pulleys, the improvement to the car is felt in the form of sharper throttle response (particularly off boost), and the engine feels more willing to rev. GFB GFB 3001 ATOMIC SINGLE STAGE BOOST CONTROLLER
Boasting a repeatable and stable boost curve, quick rise rate, and unbeatable value, GFB’s Atomic has earned a reputation as being one of the most reliable and effective manual boost controllers on the market. It is important to note that the Atomic does NOT use a “ball-and-spring” system like others on the market, for very good reason. The ball-and-spring system is an attempt to increase the boost rise rate by preventing pressure from reaching the wastegate during spool up. However, in practice this method usually creates boost spiking and a less stable and repeatable boost curve. Instead, the Atomic uses a precision orifice and needle valve system to accurately bleed pressure from the wastegate line to increase boost. With no moving parts, this system is ultimately more reliable and stable. For use with any type of petrol/gasoline or diesel turbocharger system using a traditional pneumatic wastegate (internal or external). GFB Atomic: Case Study The Atomic Boost Controller was tested on an MY02 Subaru WRX (whose only mods were a turbo-back exhaust) back-to-back with the factory controller. A base-line power run was performed with the factory boost control, and the boost level was measured at the same time. The Atomic was then installed and set to the same peak boost level of 0.9bar (13.2 psi) so that the spool-up time could be accurately compared before and after the installation. The dyno graph shows the Atomic boost curve in green, and the factory curve in blue. 4th gear is used for both tests, and proof that the Atomic was set to the same peak level is seen towards the end of the chart as the two curves meet. However, notice the massive gains down low in the rev range, as much as 18kW (23.4hp) AT THE WHEELS! This increase in power shows that the Atomic allows the boost to rise significantly earlier than the factory controller, which on the road represents much better acceleration from a whopping 1700RPM earlier in the rev range. All this WITHOUT exceeding the factory peak boost level, and for a pocket-money price! It is important to note that the MY01-02 (MY02-03 in the US, GDA chassis) model responds very well to this modification, because the factory boost mapping is very conservative in an attempt to keep the torque curve flat and the power delivery linear (which totally kills the feeling that you are driving a turbo!). Note of course that boost can be increased above the factory level for more power gains, but the purpose of this experiment was only to show the improved spool-up potential on this particular model WRX. So, if you want your GDA WRX to REALLY feel lively, fit an Atomic or Reactor boost controller for the best “bang-for-your-buck” modification you can make! Any form of boost control should be considered a tuning tool rather than a bolt-on power adder, and therefore adjustments should be done with knowledge of the limits of the engine/turbo to maximize the performance gains and reliability from using this product. The latest iteration of GFB’s feature-packed electronic boost controller now has the ability to monitor and display your engine’s air/fuel ratio in either Lambda or AFR. By connecting the analogue output of most wideband O2 controllers (i.e. Innovate LC-2, AEM UEGO etc, sold separately) to the G-Force III’s auxiliary input, you can toggle between boost pressure and air/fuel ratio display. Not only does this save you from having to install a separate AFR gauge in your car, it can also save your engine! A lean mixture at high boost can destroy an engine in seconds, and a stand-alone AFR gauge is next to useless when accelerating hard as your concentration is likely to be (and should be!) on the road in front of you. The G-Force III safeguards your engine against a lean mixture by lowering boost to the minimum setting, and visibly warning you by flashing the display lighting. Whether your car is a daily driver or an all-out track weapon, the G-Force III has the features to tailor boost to suit your needs. Set up to 6 boost presets and select on the fly, use the scramble feature for overtaking, launching, towing, or protecting the engine, and you can even customize the lighting colour to suit your interior! The uses for this feature are limited only by your imagination – you can raise or lower boost based on time, a manual button or switch, or trigger automatically based on engine conditions. The D-Force is the perfect partner for all turbo diesel engines that use a pneumatic wastegate. Using a modified version of the G-Force II closed-loop boost control algorithm to suit the different behavior of diesel engines, the D-Force has the features to tailor boost to suit your needs. With 6 boost presets and a timed scramble feature that can be selected on-the-fly, the D-Force can adjust your boost for all driving conditions such as overtaking, towing, economy, racing, or even protecting the engine. As any modified turbo diesel owner knows, it is important to monitor EGT (Exhaust Gas Temperature) to avoid costly engine damage. Not only can the D-Force control your boost, but it can also display EGT! By installing GFB’s EGT Kit, you can toggle between boost or EGT display (in °C or °F), and set a high temperature warning. No other EBC offers the features, control, and ease of use like the D-Force. GFB’s EBC (Electronic Boost Controller) range offers the most “bang-for-your-buck” of any EBC on the market, with features rivalling much more expensive units AND remaining incredibly easy to use. Boost control begins with a massive 50psi (3.5BAR) capability, and the 6 individually configurable presets allow for enough settings to suit all driving conditions. Presets can be selected at the press of a button or triggered remotely, and for each preset it is possible to tune the peak boost, boost rise rate, and the strength of the closed loop correction. This means you can change how much boost you have, how fast the boost comes on, and how hard the controller will correct for boost variations. Our unique “scramble” feature allows you to jump to a dedicated boost preset for a user-adjustable amount of time, and can be activated on the screen or remotely using any kind of switch, button, or programmable ECU output. The uses for this feature are limited only by your imagination – you can raise or lower boost based on time, a manual button or switch, or trigger automatically based on engine conditions. For example, use a toggle switch for high/low boost, steering wheel/gearshift button for push-to-pass, use the timer for launch control, or drop boost pressure if your oil/water temperature is high or the water/meth system runs dry. An important point of difference with GFB’s EBCs is the simple and intuitive user interface. By using capacitive touch buttons, scrolling text, and a logical menu layout, you’ll find our EBCs are a pleasure to use. You can even choose your preferred boost units and customize the button lighting colour to match your car’s dash! VNT/VGT turbos are typically found on late-model diesel engines (rarely used on petrol engines), and often the actuator can look similar to a wastegate actuator. GFB GFB 3007 D-FORCE ELECTRONIC BOOST CONTROLLER WITH EGT SENSOR MITSUBISHI, NISSAN & TOYOTA
The D-Force is the perfect partner for all turbo diesel engines that use a pneumatic wastegate. Using a modified version of the G-Force II closed-loop boost control algorithm to suit the different behavior of diesel engines, the D-Force has the features to tailor boost to suit your needs. With 6 boost presets and a timed scramble feature that can be selected on-the-fly, the D-Force can adjust your boost for all driving conditions such as overtaking, towing, economy, racing, or even protecting the engine. As any modified turbo diesel owner knows, it is important to monitor EGT (Exhaust Gas Temperature) to avoid costly engine damage. Not only can the D-Force control your boost, but it can also display EGT! This option comes supplied with the EGT sensor so you can toggle between boost or EGT display (in °C or °F), and set a high temperature warning. No other EBC offers the features, control, and ease of use like the D-Force. For boost pressures up to 50psi (3.45BAR, 345kPa) Adjust peak boost, rise rate, and closed-loop correction Display boost pressure in psi, BAR, or kPa Display EGT in °C or °F 6 boost presets, individually programmable Unique “scramble” feature with remote switching Peak boost recall Adjustable overboost warning/boost cut Touch buttons with user selectable illumination colours Auxiliary input to switch boost presets or activate scramble Manufactured in Australia in accordance with ISO 9001 For use with turbo diesel engines that use a pneumatically controlled wastegate (not suitable for use with VNT/VGT or electronic actuators) Any form of boost control should be considered a tuning tool rather than a bolt-on power adder, and therefore adjustments should be done with knowledge of the limits of the engine/turbo to maximize the performance gains and reliability from using this product. GFB’s EBC (Electronic Boost Controller) range offers the most “bang-for-your-buck” of any EBC on the market, with features rivalling much more expensive units AND remaining incredibly easy to use. Boost control begins with a massive 50psi (3.5BAR) capability, and the 6 individually configurable presets allow for enough settings to suit all driving conditions. Presets can be selected at the press of a button or triggered remotely, and for each preset it is possible to tune the peak boost, boost rise rate, and the strength of the closed loop correction. This means you can change how much boost you have, how fast the boost comes on, and how hard the controller will correct for boost variations. Our unique “scramble” feature allows you to jump to a dedicated boost preset for a user-adjustable amount of time, and can be activated on the screen or remotely using any kind of switch, button, or programmable ECU output. The uses for this feature are limited only by your imagination – you can raise or lower boost based on time, a manual button or switch, or trigger automatically based on engine conditions. For example, use a toggle switch for high/low boost, steering wheel/gearshift button for push-to-pass, use the timer for launch control, or drop boost pressure if your oil/water temperature is high or the water/meth system runs dry. An important point of difference with GFB’s EBCs is the simple and intuitive user interface. By using capacitive touch buttons, scrolling text, and a logical menu layout, you’ll find our EBCs are a pleasure to use. You can even choose your preferred boost units and customize the button lighting colour to match your car’s dash! VNT/VGT turbos are typically found on late-model diesel engines (rarely used on petrol engines), and often the actuator can look similar to a wastegate actuator.
