    Product Details The engineers at ECS Tuning have developed a 2-piece Tru-Float Wave style rotor that combines the advantages of weight savings and rapid heat dissipation, providing a rotor superior to stock while preventing warping and extending component life. The reduction of unsprung weight (by 3.5 pounds per rotor) improves handling characteristics under all situations and offers real world benefits that can be felt on both the street and track! All-around improvement in one performance minded package. Features include: Weight savings: The B8 S4/S5 ECS 2-Piece Tru-Float wave rotors weigh only 13 lbs each, compared to the stock rotor at 16.5 lbs. The lighter 2-piece rotor reduces unsprung weight and rotational inertia, improving suspension performance. The unique wave pattern further reduces weight at the outer most portion of the rotor, reducing both unsprung weight and more importantly the rotational inertia of the rotor, further improving acceleration and braking performance compared to a non-wave design. Lightweight, precision machined 6061-T6 aluminum hat, which is hard anodized with an attractive matte black finish that is both durable and corrosion resistant. Gray cast iron rings: High quality FC-30 cast iron with a high carbon content improves wear properties at elevated temperatures and has excellent thermal conductivity as well as vibration damping properties.  Friction surfaces are precision ground to ensure parallel surfaces and improve pad bed in, then assembled rotors are precision balanced for vibration free operation. Heat treating reduces the tendency for rotor cracking by reducing internal rotor stresses. Durability: Non-friction ring surfaces, including internal vents, are painted to resist salt and other corrosives. Tru-Float design: The full float design allows independent radial and lateral thermal expansion and movement. Both of these features reduce thermal stresses on the rotor due to uneven thermal loading under hard braking. The design of our rotor hat conducts less heat into the bearings due to the reduced contact area between the rotor and the hat, improving bearing life.     If you commonly drive your Audi on the track or brake at high speed, your brakes are prone to fade due to lack of cool air flowing over the rotor and can also lead to reduced brake life.  The ECS Tuning, in-house designed and engineered brake cooling duct kit is an easy to install, effective way to reduce brake temps.  The scoops channel air from underneath the car, directly to the rotor for enhanced cooling.  Our polymer ducts attach to the lower front control arm with 6061-T6 black anodized billet aluminum support brackets for a secure fit.  Compared to the common Macan duct retrofit, the direct fit ECS Tuning ducts sit lower and attach to the control arm instead of the tie rod, resulting in more accurate travel with the spindle and more air being ducted to where it counts.  Check out the air flow direction test photo below! Our 2-Piece rotors combine the advantages of weight savings and rapid heat dissipation to provide a rotor superior to stock while preventing warping and extending component life. The 18% reduction of unsprung weight by (4.2 pounds per rotor) improves handling characteristics under all situations. This reduction in rotational inertia allows for quicker acceleration, decreased braking distances, and more responsive handling. Features include: Aluminum hats: To save weight, each rotor ring is bolted to a lightweight aluminum hat made from high quality 6061 aluminum, and hard anodized with an attractive matte black finish that is both durable and corrosion resistant. Gray cast iron rings: Long known for its wear resistance and stable friction characteristics, cast iron is favored for brake rotors due to its ability to absorb and dissipate large amounts of heat. 2-Piece construction: Conventional rotors are made from 1 solid block of cast iron, causing them to be typically quite heavy and not able to quickly dissipate heat. ECS rotor hats are bolted directly to the rotor ring for massive weight savings and better ability to dissipate braking temperatures.  Heat treated: Heat treating further reduces the tendency for rotor cracking by reducing internal rotor stresses. ECS 2-Piece rotors feature side-specific directionally curved vanes which pump air through the rotor at a higher velocity, leading to consistent, rapid cooling on both sides equally.    The air velocity in curved vane rotors is higher than pillar-post rotors and straight vane rotors, and as such curved vane rotors have been shown to cool more effectively. ECS Slotted 2-Piece rotors are slotted to clean brake pads and carry away water and brake dust. Slotting reduces the effects of pad glazing that often results from extremely high temperatures by continually cleaning the pad surface, resulting in more consistent stopping. Slots are machined with a ball end mill to prevent cracking that may be present on improperly machined rotors.  Overall weight savings: This particular ECS 2-Piece rotor weighs only 19.80lbs compared to a stock GTI (PP) / Golf R rotor at 24.0lbs.
