The new systems improve and deepen the exhaust tone whilst staying within a similar decibel range for comfort within the cabin. For those looking for the ultimate upgrade for the new Civic Type R we have developed sports cat and de-cat front sections to enable us to offer a full turbo back exhaust system taking the Type R to the next level in terms of both sound and possible power output. Cobra Sport were keen to improve on the standard soundtrack. During the design stages we were keen to put this right straight away by enriching the sound produced by the 2.0 turbo Honda VTEC engine creating a vibrant and pitch perfect exhaust tone the match the strong styling of the Civic. The aggressive styling of the Civic Type R has been complemented beautifully by the 4" twin tailpipes available in a highly polished stainless steel finish. The bore size of the mandrel bent stainless steel pipework has been increased to 3" (76.3mm) to significantly increase flow rate and produce a deeper, more vibrant sound. Rolling road testing of the completed resonated cat back system revealed a +6.2 increase in bhp along with an impressive +26.7 lb-ft of torque taking the Civic Type R to the next level. Press Release The 2015 Ford Focus ST TDCI Estate was always on the agenda to lend itself to another of Cobra Sports exhaust upgrades, due to the massive success of the ST250 marques. The Cobra Sport development team recommended 3" bore pipework in order to gain the best results with regards to both power and sound. The final development is available as a rear box replacement which enhanced the TDCI engine sound by only 2dB at three quarter revs, but allowed a deeper overall tone. As expected there was an exceptional weight advantage, with the Cobra Sport exhaust being a massive 54% lighter than the original equipment exhaust. The new Focus ST TDCI exhaust has two tailpipe design options, one being the custom designed twin 4.5" x 3" slash cut oval and the other the twin 4" inward rolled slash-cut tailpipe. Both designs are available in either highly polished T304 Stainless finish and the TP38 option in ceramic coated matt black.
